Decision, decision, decision - Rolex
« on: May 18, 2010, 04:22:21 PM »
ok guys...i've found a buyer for my TT sub that i've put up for sale recently. i sold this watch because i wanted to "upgrade" to newer model

i'm planning to get a new rollie and this is what i've in mind...let me know your thoughts/decision if you're in my position.

1. the new TT sub (smurf blue dial) retailing at S$14,657
2. wait for the green ceramic sub, rumour has it that it should be slightly over S$10K (planning to get the 1st series...usually 1st series is worth "investing")
3. DSSD

can anyone advise the list price of (1) and (3) in KL? what's the typical discount like? for SG, it's 15%-17%.  thanks in advance

cheers

The new TT sub diff is just the ceramic bezel right?
When i checked it out at the AD i find the blue slightly diff.
I'm thinking hard bout the new green sub as well but for sure it will be goreng price.

Out of your choice of 3 i would go for the green sub as the other 2 can be had easilly.

hey mate, thanks for your tots!

there're a lot of differences if i'm not mistaken:

new TT sub comes with ceramic bezel, maxi dial, the colour of the blue is different and the shape is slightly angular compared to current sub. It's using the new movement and a new lume (colour is blue and it's also different from regular sub because it's the same type of lume used in DSSD...)

DSSD gets my vote ;) biggest sub in rolex line.. I am wearing it almost every day...

I like the green sub (the new ceramic) but in my opinion it maybe not that practicle for daily wear unless u manage to get one with reasonable price ;)

I don't quite like the central polish link on the new sub but no doubt the new ceramic bezel makes a lot different and the maxi dial too ;) tough choice...

So, it's really depend what's you buy it for, or collection more or daily wear, I find DSSD more practicle here dispite it's weight but it doesn't bother me ;)

I am sure Danny cover you the price ;)

good luck and do keep us inform your new toy ;)

Scott

I think he prefers to wear it over his sleeve. Easier to read the time.  ;D

okok..here to answer the questions...

I took these photos this morning  ;D

and finally... for Danny, the extendable link made it easier to wear over the sleeve..  ;D

James, I think it's better you wait till the new sub and try all 3 before make your final decision, sometimes, you really need to try it out before surrender your creditcard :D

p/s1: if you are in town, i can let you try the DSSD with proper sized bracelet. You can only feel the comfort if the bracelet sized right for your wrist...if not, you will feel it otherwise

p/s2: I DO NOT wear my watch over the sleeve!! The picture above is just to show you how easy it is to extend the link by its glidelock system...

Wow Scott thats good to know...its either ur cuffs is bigger size or mine is too tight haha....
Coz even when i wear my SD sometimes its a bit tight already.
The list price is quite close to a Daytona which makes me think really hard which one to get.

I Got q about the new sub.

1. Do they come in new calibre? I thought they cont 2 use 3135.
2. Does the new mvmt uses parachrom balance spring?
3. Don't all new sub come with glidelock?

1) yes, 3135 still.

3) no. Should be same as the TT new Sub.

yeap, it is using glidelock but not the DSSD type.. it's actually same as the new TT Sub..

I thought the term gildelock is only use  fot he DSSD bracelet, didn't know it is also use for the New Sub even though they are different... the DSSD allow you to adjust the bracelet without remove the DSSD from your wrist.

The DSSD can extend up to 18mm + 26mm (total 44mm) while the Sub extend up to 21mm...
The DSSD uses 904L for the bracelet and I suppose new Sub too but didn't mentioned on the official website.. i guess maybe just missing some info.
