My old new Hamilton 917 watch
« on: October 25, 2011, 08:20:12 AM »
after completed this hamilton 921,
http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.php/topic,2382.msg24569.html#msg24569
my hands is itchy again! it took me months to find 3 good conditions hamilton 917 pocket watches...
yes i bought 3, so i can have a good condition of pocket watch, a converted wrist watch + some parts for future!

there u go, the project begin

the vintage hamilton 917 pocket watch....

the breguet style black hands

the white dial with markers painted in black

the 42mm polish solid st steel case
double ar sapphire crystal
ar coated sapphire see through screw in caseback with max display
no sign crown
22mm lugs

the caseback gasket

problems - all projects have problems, the dial second hand hole not perfectly fit, hands not fit at all, etc. so u need to make decision on modification, search new parts, get a good watchmaker, prepare to pay more...

result

front. a simple 3 hands watch, small second at 9 with modern size case. simple and nice
the case is expensive but it worth.

back. WOW, this is the excitement! a highly finish movement
the gold chaton
the big screw balance
the highly decorated bridges
the swirl finish at barrel
etc

more photos

beside my another hamilton 917 in very good condition

the family of 4....

Why you always choose to work on the Hamilton project??? I remembered seeing in the old thread sometime back, you also work on similar Hamilton project? Is it easy to source the parts???

Yup, so far I only know Hobbit and Chris are both passionate of customizing/ rebuild the watches, not sure who else in MWF??? And I sometime summon the wrong person too, Christ, "The One"  :Laughing_on_floor: :Laughing_on_floor:

Chris , your project always amazed me...Some question

where do you source your dial?
Did you assemble the watch yourself?

Congratulation once again on completion of very interesting project...admire you for that
