Admiring friend's 16758.
Nice watch.
care to shed some light into it.
I no vintage Rolex expert, so can just tell you the basics. And like I said, it's not my watch therefore I dunno any history behind this particular piece.
This is the second generation of GMT Master, reference 1675. The 1675/8 is the gold variation, and comes with either black dial & bezel or this brown dial & bezel, which is also known as the root beer. I really like this brown color, much nicer than the black one. And I think his changing of the bracelet to a matching strap has made it much better looking! His watch I think is made in 1970.
But the special part of his 16758 is the Tiffany name on the dial, which definitely commands a higher premium, same as the name Cartier as well. Because these were the last two companies ever to have their names on a Rolex dial. And very prominent names they are too.
The picture does not do justice to the lovely color of this piece. It has to be seen in real life. Hopefully my piece will be here next month then I can adore it all day long. But pity I can only afford the normal one without Tiffany name coz I am not as a crazy collector as him!
