BUT I tried out the A384 revival recently at SWG and I was immediately smitten by it. While a bit smaller than what I'm used to, that thing just oozed charm and was such a breath of fresh air. Ordered one with the ladder bracelet on the spot but they have to bring it in from Switzerland (approx 6 weeks wait). Hopefully it'll reach here in time for CNY! The A384 is a winner :D

Man, this Shadow variant is something else. Got me wondering just how durable this microblasted titanium actually is, whether it would scratch easily and show it. Something about the darker styled color theme is appealing.I think it's genuinely cool and a pretty modern take on the A384, but personally it's overly sporty and I feel that the microblast finish comes at the cost of really sharp lines and bevels on the SS version. Yeah, definitely more for a casual/everyday wear kinda thing. I tend to wear black band t-shirts and jeans most times anyways so it has its appeal. Though, it really is nice to have a bracelet option as well to wear with it, like the SS A384.

Actually i am conscious about this as well....not overly colour coordinated, but at least if I’m wearing a tanned leather watch strap, I would match with a tanned leather belt and shoes. Things like no tanned /brown shoes with black slacks/suit is a given.
But if I’m lazy, just go for steel bracelet, black face. Super safe - unless you’re going for a run then would be weird IMO. Haha

The AP ROO style got it right with counters at 6 9 12 and date at 3
Speedmaster and Daytona just left the date out
and the older VC Overseas 49150 had a big date at 12
Had to compromise with the A384 because I like the watch a lot

However, Zenith tries to solve it by using a low-inertia silicon for the escape wheel but I am guessing time will tell whether this would solve it or not.

Some people just want to be the first.... have heard that it's around rm35k which puts it about 20% discount... still a bit much for a steel Zenith if you ask me...
And I think the hype about resembling a Daytona is too much.. no crown guards, no screw down pushers, a date window and solid coloured subdials nearly overlapping... is very much Zenith design.
Then as a member here points out..

the new Calibre 3600 has yet to prove it's reliability and I'd like to see what happens when more users buy it and start letting the chronograph run for extended periods.
Overall, the 1/10th will be an interesting feature and will be watching for it when it's at least 30% or more off retail.. the striking 10th models were never a big hit and suffered badly in the resale market.

Thing looks absolutely lovely and the ladder bracelet is light, balanced and comfortable. Finishing is good on the bracelet, fit is decent and the retro feel is through the roof.
On another note, Zenith decided to pair the bracelet with a rather simple thin stamped clasp which not only looks vintage, but feels vintage too. The upside is that it's light and doesn't make the watch bottom-heavy; but the downside is that the quality feels like something from an early Seiko 5 (i.e. cheap - even the new 5KXs have better clasps). The flip-lock mechanism likewise feels cheap too. Which I think is a deliberate move from Zenith for that vintage vibe... but they could have easily engineered a much higher quality clasp.

That's a cracking piece right there mate, congrats on the new watchAhh thanks! No joke, the clasp is almost identical to the original Gay Freres clasp. I just googled the vintage one and it looks exactly the same to my eyes. But I have to say the bracelet quality of the new one looks better with less slack/jangle. Will update again on the wearing experience once I get more wrist time.
Was wondering about the clasp/ flip lock thing u mentioned, have u got a shot of it? Also, if u dont mind the ask, how many % off did u manage to wrangle off the shop and what's the servicing rate gonna be like?
PS: I got almost 30% off for it after some tough haggling, but they recently increase the RRP of the A384 by about 1k+ so I had to pay a bit more than what I expected. Service-wise I have no idea but I read that El Primeros are generally not too expensive to service. Hope that helps!

Lug width is 19mm. More difficult size but still reasonably easy to find.

Chono sport now no stock at the entire KL AD.. they r riding on the Daytona fame.. or possible doing a ‘Rolex’ stunt ..
Was talking about this also yesterday with the SA, seems stock would begin to arrive for some of the early birds around next month but no guaranteed deliveries. I was told to anticipate a 6 mth wait. Price wise I think its possible to negotiate 25% or maybe even better if got good relationship with the shop, but that's still 30k+ though. Heading up into Snoopy territory.

Yes, very possible to squish 20mm leather or NATO straps into 19mm lugs and looks ok but the harder rubber ones will be tough. I actually once filed a cheap leather strap slightly at the lug end to fit a smaller one and it looks rather good. Not perfect but not really noticeable.

I like everything about it except the grey running seconds sub-dial is too light and feels like a deal breaker to me.

Really like the Chronomaster sport. Awesome movement and incredible looks. Now at waiting list too.
Any idea how long to wait for this watch? It seems like can't even see it on the shelf so far in ADs

if there is a waitlist i doubt there is ready stock right? unless ADs are now playing the "keep stock" game to make it looks like the watch is in huge demand..

Last time I check the chronomaster in Pavilion store, they say have to wait for 6 months

Been told around the same wait time for the chronomaster sport as well, and funny part is they don't even want to entertain the question on discount like they not interested to even sell the watch to you.

Dropped by the AD to destress and cuci mata. Its got a different look and vibe vs SS, just a wee bit too small though. Dah la kulit gelap, jam pun gelap, jangan masa depan gelap sudah la :Laughing_on_floor:

Wow, I didn't catch that detail at all! I guess they wanted to replicate the original A384 model exactly. But I don't mind the date window at all. Plan to get Zenith Defy classic. Any owner here? Is it a good watch and easy to maintain?
Got a Defy Classic Skeleton for my wedding little over a year ago. I got the FKM rubber strap instead of the bracelet. So hairline scratches only around the buckle area.. watch wise still perfect. I wear it like 2 days a week and I consider myself a careful owner.
Good luck with it ! You will surely enjoy it.

I think these to me are more desirable than the ceramic Chronomaster Sport model. And with the same rapid 1/10th movement no less!I quite like these modern bracelets lah. Since it's not a reissue, but more like a 38mm modern version that somewhat looks like the A386 so the bracelet works for me. Can't wait to see them in person.
Zenith is on a roll recently - good for them!

I'm really digging the panda dial la tbh, its a nice change from the usual tri color theme n has a vintage vibe to it.
There's also this pretty piece slated to come out as a LE for the Pink Dial Project in Oct. Tapi mampus la nak buleh dpt :Laughing_on_floor:

Change of the chrono seconds is interesting but still the running seconds dial at 9 should have been a different color font instead of white on grey which is a but harder to see.
Otherwise it does look like some of the older El Primero models which was discontinued expect this time they didn't overlap the subdials too much.
Definitely hoping to see this watch in person as well.

Do try the ladder bracelet on the A384. Gives it more presence and does feel a bit bigger than on a strap (since it fills up the straight lugs and shows more steel 'surface'). I too felt the A384 looks smaller on leather, but not necessarily a bad thing in my books lah.
