Title: Close Up Filters

Am new to photography and am considering getting a close up UV filter for my A55 to better take photo of watches. The question is what changes would it bring to a current telephoto lens? Increase macro? what if i put it to a macro lens. Would it further increase macro capability? what are the compensation that would occur if i attach to any lens for e.g: decrease shutter speed? Thank you for any feedbacks.
