Title: quick and dirty upload of my few pieces...
Post by: notmanic on July 09, 2013, 09:59:55 AM
not the best of quality images but should do for now, believe there are better pics of these watches out there but hey, they're family now... have my eye on a few more pieces to add to the collection and hopefully soon...

story is that the oris was my first swiss automatic watch back in 2003, and have not added any watches since then. it has served me well and since i have not bought a single watch since then, the floodgates have opened. currently waiting for aftermarket straps to arrive for a makeover of my Oris & BB.

as seen in the pic above, the watches are:
Tudor   Heritage Black Bay, Longines Hydroconquest, Oris BC3, Junkers World Flight Records G38 Chronograph

hope you enjoyed.

Thanks dp... They're nothing to shout about and I think the beauty of the watches I have is that they're interestingly simple, good value for money... so far the ETAs are not a big headache to maintain... With the exception of the handwound cal. 3133 on the Junkers which is a beautiful sight... Hopefully no big headache maintaining that one...

@glamp, yes I wanted to get the best bang for my buck and went big with a 12-slot box... I guessed with so much poison and devil's advocates in here, it won't take long to get it filled up... Am looking for a nice valjoux 7750 to 'teman' the 3133... Believe steinhart has a few which caught my eye... Any advice?

Finally strapped the Black Bay with a dark brown piece from Meyhofer... Looks 'tajam' now, but am trying to get used to the space between the lugs now... Some wrist shots on how it looks on my 6.57-inch wrist... My bad...

I am also getting kinda annoyed by the space between the lugs once the strap is mounted.
Can a thicker strap solve the problem?

Don't think a thicker strap will help. What you need is a longer end piece much like the leather strap on the Breguet Type xxi.

why not scout for a curved end leather strap?
or put on a leather nato.

kinda tough searching for the perfect strap, i.e. right shade of brown, slightly distressed, fills up more space at the lugs.

will live with it for now. if anyone finds one which covers the above, let me know. other than that, still looks ok!

Nope... from a watch band specialist in Germany for this one... if you really wanna know, drop me a PM... not worth it if you're only getting one or two straps...

That Oris is 10 years old? Wow, you really take good care of your watch, it look much younger than that.

it has been my trustworthy day beater, and now gets a rest once in a while when i rotate with the others... maybe you can't see the scars left from the numerous drops and knocks, but they're there and it still keeps ticking... quite amazed that it took all the beating and that it is still functioning...  :o

Just curious, how many times have you sent it for servicing for the past 10 years?

Have done so twice... the first was almost 4 years after purchase, and the last i believe was as recent as 1 to 2 years ago... minor service and no one mentioned it required replacement of parts... didn't head back to Oris SC's though, bet i would've had lots to replace if it did...

That is really one robust Oris.

I bet the same too, Oris will certainly want you to replace more parts, maybe want you to buy more watches as well.  ;D

I would believe so... Fortunately, nothing from Oris has caught my eye... yet...  8)

Thanks! Was deliberating between the Pelagos or Black Bay before making the purchase... But once I got a hold of both, the Black Bay seemed the better choice because of 2 things, it stood out more and it also weighed heavier (steel vs. titanium), didn't like the lightweight feel of the Pelagos...

Nice one bro...love your Tudor BB. I was lusting for one too, but my CFO didn't give the green light. In any event, I totally did the same thing as you. I prefer to buy watches with steel bracelets and then buy leather straps to change, every once in a while. It does give the feeling of a completely new watch. As like you, I was once bothered by the "space" between the watch case and the strap. But after a while, it kinda grew on me and made me think that this gave the watch a rather classic and "smaller" look. When I wanna look more "sporty" or outgoing, then it is steel for me. For that "classic" feel or just dressy, then leather it is. Anyways, thanks for sharing your photos...have a great weekend.

thanks for the appreciation! you have some nice pieces yourself... was eyeing the spitfire myself... tudor's been really on a roll with their recent releases and am sure that one or more from the stable will land on your wrist in the future... as for me, am looking to add a pilot, a worldtimer and a chronograph to my collection... still looking out for the right pieces... have a great week ahead!

Please do share when you do get those lovely pieces...I can only hope to add the BB to my collection. Still need to convince my wifey (CFO) to let me  ;D. I will up date as soon as I am able to get it. Btw, the weekend over here in Hong Kong got a little spoilt by the typhoon.
