Real shoddy workmanship and to think they put this out at the showroom for all to see...looks like driver rear door...

What a let down,i wonder when Proton will be ever ready for international market. Wasting our tax payer money to keep them alive

not even Volvo or Saab.. from my home country is doing well and their quality is better. Having said that, when i came here and met my wife the first time 10 years ago she had a proton waja (?) it was a very basic car but it worked great.

Yes, I remember the Proton Wira & Waja was the two better Proton model in the Proton stable.
Can't comment on the Satria or Satria NEo as I do not have the experience of driving them.
The rest is crappy.

Just to share my similar experience, went to a peugeot roadshow and was quite impressed with the RCZ. Opened up the bonnet to check engine and this is what I saw

Again real put off not only thr car but the brand as well. only malaysian cars this shoddy no but cars made in malaysia...go figure.

I guess some negative stuff about proton are just being blown out of proportions.
I used to drive a Proton Persona.
The car served me for 5 years problem free until the day I sold it... to a colleague of mine...
Still serving him problem free.
Only thing about proton that I don't like is the quality of the service centres...
Oh, and before that, I drove a Proton Iswara for 7 years... the biggest problem I got is a dead battery and a damaged temperature sensor... other than that, it works great taking me from point A to point B for 7 years...

i think malaysian have a big problem....
the mind is dominated by perception....
proton = no good.....but many of them commend without even step into to showroom of proton....
service center poor service definitely true, i bought n drove waja for 2 yrs last time.... car no problem but to go to service is tough, proton selling too well those day....so u have to WAIT....
anyway, base on survey, best service center are as follow.... honda, toyota, nissan..... then follow by german made....
lets test drive this b4 i commend

very true. Thats why Rolex is the premier brand in Malaysia as well. But what bro hanz said about the service centres are true as well. My only peeve with Proton is that their pricing is a little stiff. But with the rising prices for commodities, I guess I am just a cheapskate. Oh that and their constant stream of 'special editions' that are not so special.

Highlighting defects should not be viewed negatively. We are helping Proton to evolve from
village hero to global player. Companies supplying doors, alarms and power windows are owned
by powerful well connected individuals. We dont want overseas buyers to laugh at the Preve
like how we laugh at the early chinese cars to reach Malaysiaan market. This door issue is
only aestetics but the issue of undercarriage collapse after hitting 6 inch divider is more serious.
Imagine the tyre and rims are not damaged but the the wheel collapsed. Other drivers might not
be so lucky when they hit large potholes or speed bumps.

How much can you learn about a car from a short 15 min test drive? Very little

Basically none of any Malaysia service center with good customer service or a customer service official that understand their client (try oz or Germany service central), u feel huge different ....
Best service center base on the connection between you and the branch manager (all brand included).

The top reason most people buy Proton and the reason the company is still around is
their lower price relative to other makes

Do they deserve to die? Yes, definitely.
It's a bloody crime to sell tin cans with Jurassic tech to us at such inflated prices. They have never moved and is still giving us turds. This is what happens when you mix politics with business

I am not sure if I need to connect the dots... I believe that you can ask anybody on the street and they will explain the "proton effects" in length...

I think most of us know Proton fate is sealed. It has improved its offerings
but the Koreans and Japanese are not staying still for Proton to catch up.
In 25 years they will still be 5 yrs behind the Koreans and 10 yrs behind the
Japanese. It is only a matter of time Proton will end up like Seat of Spain
Skoda and the latest victim Lada. A few generation of young Malaysians
will pay the "opportuinity cost" of not be able to enjoy better variety of cars.

I have owned about a dozen cars out of which 4 are Protons. I traveled about 400k kms without
any problems at all but if given a choice I would prefer to drive those 400K kms in a Toyota
or Nissan etc.

Volvo and Saab have gone through Introduction, growth, maturity and decline phase.
The Swedish Co died of natural causes and is now about to be reincarnated as Chinese Co. LOL

I got an Iswara Aeroback for my parents in 2006 and like many of you said, I'd probably NOT buy another Proton. :(
No big complains about the car, just felt that the whole Proton organisation & products lacks quality. :Scolding:

Well, the TS ask is Proton PREVE ready for international market, and my answer is NO.
Even the Proton Inspira is a rebadge Mitsubishi Lancer, ie from international market to local market.
So how to penetrate international market?

Looking 4 a 2nd car...checked out Proton... the higher end are nice... but I just don't trust proton nor perdua... what should I get? Honda is ok but it's still a Honda...BMW 5? look oki, engine ok it seems... but i don't know... WV to exp 4 what u get...I'm thinking Audi a6... had one b4, abit of trouble but great car....if the tax goes down like they said...
