New Watch Fan From Selangor
« on: August 02, 2011, 08:53:24 AM »
Hello Everbody,

I've just joined the forum recently and I have recently caught the "watch virus " recently when I drooled over my friends Hammy, Rolex, A Piguet. That got me started googling for more information on all things related to watches - pocket watch, wristwatch, stop watch etc.
Until I stumbled onto this fantastic local watch community and straight away I register & join this forum.I've read most of the thread in here and in the past few days, have received helpful information on watches from all the "watch masters" here.

I noticed mostly owned "big watches" in here. I am only a "small watch fan" with a "cheapo" China-made watch, some fashion watches like Swatch, Caterpillar etc and a G-shock.

The watches I have in mind (in chronological order of having them in a year or two) :

1) Seiko 5 Automatic
2) Traser
3) Tissot.

Welcome to MWF. We all started the same. I believe that once you are in MWF, you will be poisoned for the big watchmaker watch soon.

Welcome watchnewby

Most collections start small and will balloon soon in no time. Believe us and watch out for the viruses.

I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

Thank you for the welcome rusminag and david_cheong.

Yes, like everything else, start small and over time will grow in stature.

BTW, my first watch was a Hermes (not sure what model and God-knows where I have kept it), a winding watch before my Swatch. Will post some pictures on my current watches later when I am free.

Well, for starters I am looking at watches around my budget first, hence the Seiko series first.
Just now, I was browsing through Orient website, and I am impressed by their movement. Maybe I should consider Orient brand after the Seiko

Thank you for the welcome sid.
I do agree that Roleks is a class of its own, like a Benz in the Auto world.
At the moment I am looking at Seiko and Orient first (maybe like a Toyota, maybe in later years may move upmarket).
