Any of you guys set your watch fast?
« on: June 02, 2011, 12:40:05 PM »
Not sure if this is something that is frowned upon, but I'm just curious if other people do it. I tend to set my watch 15 minutes ahead of time, which in same strange way helps me get to meetings ahead of time (or at least on time). I actually noticed that all the clocks in my house are 15 minutes fast too (not done by me).

...or do you guys set it tepat tepat?  :Laughing_on_floor:

I alwiz set it according to atomic clock time and check its accuracy from time to time. If it falls between +/- 3~10s i am ok. if anything more i will send the watch for service

From young i always try my best to be on time and in most cases early.

The people i see set their watches or clocks fast usually still are late or always late. (Not saying its you hehe).

So no, no need for me to do that.

Speaking entirely for myself, I regard it ironic, self defeating even if after spending thousand of ringgits to get all these chronometer-certified and superlative what-nots, wasting all the time in the world to sync my watches to the atomic clock, and concerned like mad with the few seconds lost or gained everyday, to then set the time 15 minutes fast or whatever minutes for that matter. As a matter of fact, the WIS in me would frown upon that and would probably cynically smile on me ...

If you think in another way, by setting the watch fast will give some clearance as some my watch running slow. It give me some space before it need to be reset.

You guys are indeed very cunning linguist as I do not understand what you are talking about.

Perhaps it is premature for me to speculate, but there must be good reasons to setting the watch fast. However I don't see the need to do this as I am sure the climax to this discussion will be that setting the watch fast will result in you coming early.

Setting the time faster only gives me more time to procrastinate knowing that I still have more 'actual' time as opposed to the time shown on the clock, watch etc..

Yeah, it's hard to "trick yourself", but surprisingly it works nowdays (on me anyways), lol. Mind getting more feeble :p

It didn't work during high school though, as during exam days I set the clock 1hr fast and when mom tried to wake me up thinking I was late I just told her about the time and went back to sleep  :Laughing_on_floor:

I know a friend who does it, about 20 minutes faster. Not on a watch, on his cellphone.

I don't do it, something like that doesn't do anything for me.
