Up for sale is a minty, full packaged Bell and Ross Airborne II, popularly known as the skull watch
First launched in 2009, the first skull watch was meant to remember the paratroopers and especially the US Airborne divisions for their role in WW2.
Under adverse conditions, they parachuted into strategic fighting zones, to help turn the tides of the great war.
In 2011, the Airborne II was released as a limited edition of 999 pieces worldwide, which is what this piece is all about
The skull and crossbones together are a mystical symbol of courage and danger. This design is taken from the Airborne paratroopers’ badge
The case is 46mm with the appealing `aged steel' appearance or known as “rifle barrel” finishing. This is achieved by repeated random rubbings. The technique does not affect the steel and makes each piece unique. The first release do not have this feature.
Sword and dagger-shaped hands further contribute to the mystery of this piece. A standard ETA 2892 runs the watch.
The crystal is anti-reflective, and water resistance is 100 meters. In case you’re wondering, the dial is not luminous and hence, the skull does not glow, unlike the first edition.
Several `skull-themed’ watches have since been released by Bell Ross. In terms of pricing and classic look, this model hits the sweet spot.
