Greetings all sifus,
Novice watch enthusiast here looking to buy my first Rolex. Having owned several Seikos (skx007, 009, 013, sarb017 & sarb033), high time I decided to buy my first luxury piece. And what other venerable brand than Rolex? I always yearned and desire a Rolex ever since starting my watch hobby.
I would like all sifus opinion regarding exactly which model you think in your opinion would suitable for popping the rolex cherry : :Dancing_banana:
My budget would be around the 15 - 25k mark. Preferably SS models but wouldn't mind having a TT datejust as well.
Have done plenty of research regarding 80s and 90s Rolex models, and have narrowed my choices to a few.

Which is best bang per buck for entry level rolex?
And which model is more desirable/retain 2nd hand value?
Thank you in advance!!!

With your budget, I would opine that the best bet would be the non-ceramic SubND. It would be easy to flip too when you are ready to upgrade to the ceramic version of SubD in future.

Just to clarify with you since you have both 2 liners and 4 liners.
14060 - 3030 movt & non cosc cert
14060m 2 liner - 3130 movt & non cosc cert
14060m 4 liner - 3130 movt & cosc cert
Is that correct? Plus how is the accuracy with non cosc and cosc cert watches?
Personally am leaning towards the 2 liner ND sub, love how the 2 liners dial looks more like a vintage sub

Ahhhh, that blue dial DJ is a looker too. Have only been looking a silver and TT DJs.
What dial preference are you leaning to?
Roman numeral or baton with minute track?

@flyingbrick850
My 16234 is a Roman numeral.

Explorer I 114270
-
Submariner 14060M would a good classic one!
-
I would go for an Explorer I 114270
-
i think submariners are too mainstream. go for a date just 41/2 @ 41mm and make a statement!
-
try 116000 Blue, or 116200
-
I'd go for either 1 of 3 sub u listed, coz personally im not a rolex fan, but sub do look good on me, and a very good resale value as well.
-
Personally, I would go for the iconic sub 14060

In my opinion, the 114270 would be a good starter if budget is a constraint. It looks good as a dress watch, and can be versatile as a sport watch too. If you have higher budget, then go for the SubC ND, it looks more symmetrical
