Title: Swatch Sistem51
Post by: r3kahsttub on July 30, 2014, 09:03:49 PM
Just some pics of the Sistem51 I received in the mail this morning...

Initial impression: its super light, so it automatically feels kind of cheap... but then I remind myself that this is after all, a cheap watch. The strap is supposedly leather, but feels synthetic, perhaps with a slight rubber base. It feels nice to touch and looks to be slightly water resistant. It feels more robust than your regular leather strap.

On the wrist, the S51 wears a little bigger. The case itself is pretty thick, and can't seem to sit perfectly on my wrist. Not to say that it is uncomfortable though; the lack of weight definitely helps with the wear-ability. For one day on the wrist, I've got to admit it was a cheap thrill and apart from the rotor being a touch too audible, there's very little to fault the S51. Especially not with a tiny RM500 price-tag!

The first wave will be available at Swatch KLCC on 15th August with a RRP or RM490. I'm told after they're sold out, those who missed out will have to wait till Sept before the second shipment comes in.

Dunno if they are worth collecting or not, but my contact only had two left, so I thought why not

Day3 on the wrist so far, and apart from the noisy winding movement, I am quite happy with it.

I just had a quick look at the Swatch store in Pavillion today, and they have ready stock available for all colours. Looks like all that BS about a limited run at KLCC only was just them trying to hype it up. Caught up with my contacts in Gardens, and they too bought from Swatch MidValley without any issues, and with available stock for all colours.

There is a detailed review on the movement, accuracy seems not good.

Title: Any Uboat owner here?
Post by: namadgi on December 07, 2014, 07:42:21 PM
Hi, was wondering where to send this watch for servicing in KL. As i got it from forumer in Singapore, does Uboat has authorised dealer in KL for me to send this piece for servicing?

Any feedback is most welcomed.

Cheers!!

Actually, there is a U-Boat distributor here at Watch Atelier in Bangsar. But I do believe that is Singaporean owned.

I got the S51, bought it from Swatch in PJ. Was happy to own it but then realized the accuracy was terrible. My case was, if i wear it on the wrist from morning to night, the timing was ok,everything running fine, but when got home at night, left it on the table till morning, the timing slowed. In the next morning i realized that it lagged around 20-30minutes. I have tried to put it in several positions on the table but nothing's changed. I did realized the balance wheel slowed down when i picked up from the table. But when i wore it again, the timing maintained.

My S51 is second generation, the accuracy seems improved a bit. I timed it this morning and will check again see if it's still within +/-10 seconds per day.

Actually 20minutes slower per day , can be considered as manufacturer defect, you may wish to claim a new watch replacement directly from Switzerland Swatch Company under warranty(if claim from PJ AD maybe not so effective).

I do not want to buy any S51 after this. Just keep the old one is enough. Having one (even defective watch) is kinda good thing. I always believe every watch enthusiast should have 1 S51, which a technical achievement for the watch industry

Just discovered that S51 has extra wording on its dial. They are discreet that the wording are totally blended with the dial color. It read as "Swatch AG 2014".

Maybe it is one of its anti counterfeit feature.
