This is my first vintage. And after a period of contemplation and research, I decided on a GS over Longines, Omega and received the watch this morning and this is above my expectation. I was prepared to have this watch sent to have a quick service and a light buff. But this came out of the box as good as it could be looking, for a watch over 40 years old. I'm a happy happy man.

Have a great day all

Sourced from overseas? Any issues with customs?

Congrats on your good catch on GS
You got it from eBay? Overseas? Kindly pm the supplier if you don't mind. Thanks.

It still is a beautiful watch. There is a certain charm in vintages and the lustre of an acrylic crystal. The warmth that you get from an aged timepiece is something special. Enjoy your watch too bro...

thanks bro,
yes, i had to be agree with u, with the age of the watch and still running that smoothly, i was pretty impress with it

It's gorgeous! How's the accuracy of the movement after 40 years though?

I finally sent it in for service right after CNY 2017. And right now, it is running a second slow per day.

I sent it to this guy called Michael Young in Hong Kong. You can google and hebalso has a website.
It is http://www.classicwatchrepair.com/page6.html
I will not quote prices here. But the website should show the services available and a general quotation of services there.
Thanks.

Thanks bro

As quoted, Micheal Young is one of the founders of UNDONE watches. They came into light from Kickstarter.
Another would be Vintage Time Australia: https://www.vintagetimeaustralia.com/VTA/
They would be the ones I would send my grail Seikos to for a service.
We have a local guy here in Malaysia who apparently is recommended. I have been there and had 4 vintage Seikos serviced.
Sad to say, one of them he scratched up the mint case back using his 'crab claw' case back remover as well as staining the mint dial.
So I guess one have to evaluate the risks involved with each.
Good Luck.

These were usually sold back in the sixties and seventies with a leather bracelet. Unfortunately when I bought the watch, the original buckle was already lost, which is usually the case. In any event, I bought a newer GS buckle for it.

That’s not even the original bracelet, and very shoddy endlinks. Look at the bottom where it meets the case. Yucks!!!
