Datejust 41 Azzuro Blue
« on: September 13, 2020, 05:27:54 AM »
Hi everyone,

My AD recently offered me a DJ41 Azzuro Blue with Roman wording at retail price, it’s a nice piece of Rolex as it’s with a blue dial but i definitely prefer to have Sport series just the waiting period could be ages. What you guys think? Should i get it or continue the wait?

Go for it. The wait for the sports models can take years.

Buy it if you like it. Datejusts are not as easy to flip as the sport models if you later find you don't really like it.

To be honest, this is the classic ROLEX with jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. Roman dial is nice and blue is the trending color. At the newer 41mm size, the fluted bezel is more outstanding.

Should go for it. Very in demand dial colour and easy to flip for above retail even pre-owned. DJ41 fluted bezel on jubilee can flip for over retail in Grey or Blue Dial. Can wear until you get a sports model, then flip it and make some pocket money.

Pre-owned Datejust can flip above retail??

Friend just bought a DJ41 Rhodium Dial on Jubilee preowned for above retail. Very very slight mark up only. Retail about 37, preowned about 39 now. Crazy market right?

If the shop is selling at that price, you would not be able to. Shops offer warranty.

This model is new and with the card will have 5 years warranty from ROLEX. The shop warranty only gives you peace of mind that it's original. A quick check at the RSC will do that as well.

Then just have to look for a willing buyer who is willing to trust the seller.

True, can trade in or sell but lower at retail or slightly below retail. But who knows what will happen in a few more years. DJ41s are increasing daily. Last year nobody wanted DJ41s. Things are changing I guess.

For all we know, nobody might want DJ41s anymore next year...  and a lot of people wishing that no more queues for sports model too. So yeah, it could go either way.

Told a friend to wait until new Submariner model comes out. I told him the 116610 will drop after the 126610 comes out. Turn out terbalik, everyone saw it's almost the same and still shortage. 116610 also up price after "discontinued". Old model go up after new one come out. Really cannot predict the future. Crazy.

The asking prices of 116710 GMT also shot up immediately after it was discontinued but after awhile the prices came down. So either you buy when the price is stable or wait until the new releases has reached stores and then see what happens. It should always come down.

Some AD already have the new Submariner in stores. Go check some ADs out this weekend.

Personally, i will go for it. i like blue 41mm maybe not the roman dials. i think demand for 41 mm is picking up. if it looks nice on your wrist.. go for it.

Congratulations! I have the Datejust II 116334 with the same dial.

Beautiful colour and love the Roman Numerals.

Mind sharing which ADs are distributing? I called a few but all of them said they haven't received stock yet

To be honest my experience at the KL ADs have been terrible recently. Most sales agents won't entertain your requests and look at you a certain way when you ask about Sports/Stainless steel models. Generally very unpleasant experience. I was able to score a Fluted DJ41 Rhodium on the Jubilee this year but that's at a smaller city AD.

It's pretty hopeless in KL.

Is this DJ in demand? I wonder could it fetch higher than retail price?

This dial, yes, but it's worth more on the Jubilee. Pre-owned I think it will still be around retail or very very little premium.

It's very weird in KL, they have no Sub for sale to regular customers but grey market sellers like Time Galaxy, WatchLim, and Prestige Watch selling on Facebook and WhatsApp. No Sub for retail buyers but there's sub for grey dealers.
