Of all watches, I have actually seen & handle one in real life that bond wore in the above pictures.. A no guard / ND submariner.

The on going auction price???...some usd 75k, I was told by the shop owner. Sound crazy but true.
This pc is not for the local market and will put on market in the international scene.

Bond of course now tukar oredi 2 Omega  ;D

One thing I notice abt the Bond pic -the Nato strap seem 2 b smaller than the lug+only bond can wear it with finesse while dressed in such a formal white tux...

During the early Bond days, those nato straps are hard to come by. The market do not have the 20mm straps and anythings that hold the watch will do...

i think the nato strap shown in the bond picture is actually 16mm only where as the lugs is 20mm

Watched George Clooney's The American a few weeks ago during a flight. Nothing to shout about really storyline-wise, but if you want to see beautiful girls, they're aplenty. And more importantly, if you're a Moonwatch lover, this movie is a must. Played quite a crucial role to Clooney' assassin character.

Looks more like the 3573 than the 3570. I noticed the grey halo around the glass so I'm fairly certain that it must be sapphire glass and not plexiglass. So, not the actual moonwatch but a sapphire (not space flight qualified) version of the moonwatch.  ;D

Don't have a DSSD but isn't the sticker on the case back gray and not green? Also why engrave through the sticker? Looks like the engraving is pretty new as the Ti case back has not oxide over.

DiCaprio is the TH ambassador but the character he plays in the movie is not. thus he can wear any watches in the movie.

Just like before this "James Bond" is contracted wear Omega but Daniel Craig is not. Unlike now DC is also contracted to wear Omega.

BTW rewatched Die Hard 2 and all the bad guys are wearing Tag. One of the earlier product placements?

not sure about the Blue Sub but the gold sub is integral in the other movie. So it might just be a prop borne by the studios.

Found out that Eason wears a white Daytona on his promo tour. Fiddling with the watch throughout the session. Can hear he adjusted the claps because his wrist was near the mic.

A procurement officer Read about the tube tech and called Luminox to design a batch for a unit. Thus the company began using the tag line to sell their watches as a marketing gimmick.

The military does not really have an "official watch". It just depends on the budget and requirements of the time. If that is the case, the true official military watch is the Marathon GSA GEneral PUrpose Quartz Wristwatch which is bought by the military in larger numbers

+1. If I am not mistaken the only link Luminox has with the Seal Team is with Seal Team Five where one guy, Chief John A. Engraff received and tested a Luminox watch for a year. It is still unclear if the rest of the Seal Team Five or for that matter the entire Seal did purchase Luminox watches and made it official issue.

If you look at the photographs of US Servicemen, you will see them wearing watches from Casio, Luminox, Traser, Marathon and Nite.

"The Navy SEALs and MoreThe Luminox Navy SEAL watch is the timepiece that made Luminox famous. The officer in charge of procurement for the Navy SEALs, Nick North, was asked to seek a more dependable watch for night missions and found the solution at a trade show where he discovered Luminox. He worked with Cohen to develop a watch specifically for them and the Navy SEAL watch was born. After Luminox provided the watches to the SEALs, Luminox began marketing the watch across the country and the world. Luminox was then approached by US Air Force pilots flying the F-117 Nighthawk fighter jet -- Luminox developed a watch for these pilots and contacted Lockheed Martin, which turned into an exclusive arrangement to produce Lockheed Martin timepieces.Throughout the following 20 years, Luminox has never strayed from its mission and this has been confirmed and validated by the many elite military and law enforcement units that have adopted Luminox as standard equipment. The man on the street has shown particular interest in Luminox, figuring rightly that if the watches are designed for and used by the Navy SEALs, they have to be able to stand up to every day use.

Indeed, some of their models also carrying seal logo. Thus, if there is no endorsement from us navy and if they dont supply watches to us navy, doubt they can associate themselves with it. Navy will have sued them for misrepresentation or passing off. I passed by pentagon once, even from a distant, bus driver warned us specifically not to take pentagon building when the bus is approaching it. So you can see how sensitive they are.

Be that as it may, i do reckon that these are all afterall part of their marketing gimmicks. Well, i for one do fall for it. Watches with their own story, be it panerai with italian navy, omega speedmaster moon watch, ball us train station watcher so on and so forth.

Anyway, i have been telling myself not to buy any 'miscellaneous brands" these days. But i couldnt help it but grabbed one luminox when i found it. The 24 hours bright little tube is very handy during any long haul flight or when you wanna find out time without disturbing others. A truly watch which is value for money and it costs only a fraction of ball.

Up to 25 years. I am not very sure but i suspect they are using same technology as Ball. But few years back I couldnt find them in Msia though. Saw plenty of them in japan and HK. I ended up bought one in HK, less than rm700 for a special edition model. Only thing is the watch is quartz, which is the only quartz that i use occasionally.

The military are just like any business entity. Endorsement comes with a price. The sale of merchandise and licensing are part of their everyday operations. That is why u find stores selling Police, FD, Army, Marines etc.... Merchandise all over tourist destination in US.

Most of the funds gathered is to run the recruitment centres and awareness programs. Advertising slots are also sold in the AFN and other publications.

i think i can answer your question, the lume intensity can and will remain constant at least for 10-12 years. All new ball watch uses T100 as oppose to T25 tritium in Luminox. There is some picture in WUS which shows the comparison between T25 n T100. Pm me if you want the link
My uncle has a Ball watch with T25 tritium, you can see the difference when compare to T100 but for me T25 is good enough to read the time in dark  :Dancing_banana:

Shawn Yue in a vintage sub in Love in a Buff. there's a closeup shot of the rivet bracelet with single clasp in the movie.

Notice that he's very much a Rolex fan with magazine and public appearance shots of him in different Rolex.

This is scene at the ending in The Lady. It looked like a Rolex. If it was not then this question would not be relevant. Was it Michelle Yeoh or Suu Kyi wearing a Rolex?

And it is a movie about struggle and sacrifice . I find this movie good to watch.

Certainly don't look like a 34mm watch. Maybe newer version. Cute girl.

To me the most significant prominent movie shot of a watch is still Keanu's Oris in Constantine. It has such an impact, at least on me.

Watch the movie for more "insight" into her "acting" abilities.

I only fast forwarded to the "scenes". What was the story about??? Now u remind me of one Korean movie about wife cheating on husband which created contoversies across South Korea. Husband found off and killed wife and her lover. Award winning actress. Great scenes! I mean story also quite thrilling la. I never fast forwarded. I repeated the scenes.

You are right. It is stupid. Movies nowadays are so commercialized that, details such as red strap on special forces are gladly neglected by producers.....

Guess like that only you can see clearly its Rosmah Mansur. Or else pay product placement fees for what?

Do you know what watch was Sandra Bullock wearing in Gravity?

Was it a Suunto?

Thanks.

Thanks. Please delete this thread then.

Btw, Sandra has very solid rear and I know some of us would love to polish it for her...

Pfft! Sandra has a thin rear, nothing to hold on there (if you know what I mean)...

Back to watches  ;D

Here is an interesting facebook page that tries to identify watches in the media:
https://www.facebook.com/WatchID (https://www.facebook.com/WatchID)

From the same page, here is a cropped image of the Gravity watch:

Well for sure it's not the iconic Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, nor does it appear to be any of the other space-watches that I'm aware of - Omega X-33, Z-33, Seiko or Fortis. It does not appear to be on a NATO or velcro strap that all the NASA space walkers use. It looks like a generic digital watch prop to me.

The movie is implausible to start with, the watch is the least of it's problems.
