I prefer at least from 42mm.
-
40mm, 42mm, 44.25mm, and the important is see what clothing I am wearing on that day to match with my watch.
-
My wrist size grows bigger as I get older. When I was 20 yo younger, the perfect size was 35mm to 38mm.
But now I feel more comfortable with size ranging from 38mm to 42mm.
-
For dress watch, I prefer 36mm-40mm. For diver watch, I prefer 40mm-42mm. Tried bigger sizes over time but sometimes it looked as though the watch was wearing me, and not the other way round. So am more disciplined in my selections these days.
-
For me it would be around 38 mm to 42 mm

My preference is always 40-44

-
I prefer small sizes 39-41 mm as I have small wrists
-
For me, it will be 39mm - 42mm. 42-45 mm should be fine depends on the watch design.
-
44mm the best for my wrist

Lug to lug size is more important than watch size, I have 36mm, 39mm, 40mm and 42mm but all have similar lug to lug size.
-
Both 40mm and 42mm good for me.

Dress watches 36 to 38mm
Sports and casual 40 to 42mm
-
It has to be 42mm for me
-
Dress size - 36mm to 38.5mm
Sports size - 40mm
-
nothing less than 40mm for me.
Although some of my best watches are 38mm and below.haha
-
45mm PO perfect size..
-
40mm up to 44mm i hv small wrist.
-
This should be a poll? It will be interesting to see the stats rather than going through the text.
I will go for 39-42mm
-
40-41 mm works best for my wrist, though I have a few pieces in excess of 42 mm.
-
39 to 42 is the best size for me..
-
my wrist is 6.5" so i prefer 36mm for dress watch and 40mm for diver
-
44mm for me.
-
40-42mm works best
-
42mm the best..nothing more than 44mm
-
I actually love big watches like 44-47mm but due to my 6 inch wrist I think it looks great only between 38-40mm :-\
-
For to 6 inch wrist, I prefer 38-40mm as it doesn't look too chunky or too small for my wrist ;D
-
Dress: 35 - 39mm
Sports: 40 - 41mm
-
some people prefer 38 but usually male will choose 40-42. i more prefer 42. 50 like sevenfriday is way too big.
-
After much trial and error (and expensive mistakes), I find 36-40mm are the better sizes for my wrist. 36-38mm are the best.
Yes, I am in the Small-Watch-Fan category, even though I consider my wrists are of average size.
-
40mm to 42mm
-
Between 42 - 44mm but depends also on the thickness of the watch.

42-46mm

40-42 is my favorite. As for statement pieces 45mm
-
42mm fits me the most...

Submariner's size is just nice for me. 42"
-
for me max 41mm, or 42mm more important depending on the L2L <50mm
-
Normally I prefer 42-44mm but still depends on design of the watch.
-
I prefer 42 onwards :)
-
if Datejust, maybe 36mm is acceptable :)
-
42MM suit me best but have to see Lug to Lug width
-
40-42 mm for my 7.25" wrist. However, having gone thru the period when 36mm was the norm I stll look for 36mm.
-
formal 42-45mm, casual 45-49mm (subject to the case thickness though)
-
42-44 is my preference. However I also have a 48mm and it looks fine although its large. 7.75" wrist.
The shape of the watch case, bezel or lack of a bezel (dial may look larger), thickness and material have more to do with preference to me than the size. That is why I prefer to buy watches I have tried on my wrist.
The only exception I made is when I bought a D. Dornblüth & Sohn without trying it on. In fact I never saw one other than photos before I opened the box for mine.
-
i think lug to lug counts more. For me shouldnt be more than 48mm
-
I myself prefer anything start from 40 mm to 42mm just nice on my wrist.
-
40mm is my all time fav. but i would also consider 36mm for DJ.
-
42 and above are good for me.

36mm and 40mm

anywhere from 39mm - 44mm.
-
I have not measured my wrist size..But so far 45-47mm seems to fit me.
-
Around 39-44mm.
-
>42mm is good
-
44mm and above , dont mind adding the new 43mm Rolex SD into collection :police:
-
Thin bezel 38-40mm, for bigger bezel, like diver watch, 40-44mm
-
38-40mm. >42mm would be too large for my wrist
-
39 - 42mm for me.
-
42-44mm the best for my wrist..
-
My wrist is small. Best size for me will be 34-40mm.
-
I used to only go 40mm+ but recently been looking at vintage watches and the 36mm ones are beginning to grow on me
-
40mm to 42mm, but for panerai I would go for 47mm
-
depends on the design..usually go for 40mm

38-40 is my favourite range
-
40 to 42 mm is the most versatile with either office wear or weekend jeans

my wrist is quite big..so 42mm and 44mm would be nice to wear n handle

small wrist... 35 - 40mm
-
I think 42 is the best for me too.
-
Both 40mm and 42mm works fine for me.
-
40-44mm is the best size for me, anything greater than 44 look not nice on my wrist.
For vintage watch I am ok for 36mm no choice.
-
39 to 42 mm only for me ...will not consider any watch more or less than that size

I am surprised though as my wrist are 7 1/4 and when I tried a 36mm Explorer it looked very small.

I normally like 39-42mm. But cases sometimes wear normal, other times smaller or larger. A well-known example is the Rolex Explorer 2 42mm which wears more like a 44mm according to most people.
I tried it at an AD and feel it fits me well though.

Generally I find 36-38mm is smallish on my
7" wrist but somehow I find DJ 36mm wears
Big (don't really like the bulky DJ2 41mm)..
DJ looks even bigger with smooth n fluted
Bezel with Oyster Bracelet ..

IF I may suggest, I think this thread would become more meaningful, wonderful, or even helpful, if all posters can state:
1. Wrist size (6.5", 7.0, 7.5" etc)
2. Preferred face size.
3. A huge plus point, is to post a pic and possibly state the grail on wrist - to put things into perspective. (like one or two of the posters have did recently)
Instead of merely stating the preferred face diameter size.
Hopefully previous posters can repost accordingly.

40-43 for a dive or chrono. Tried an IWC big Pilot (46mm), far too big for my wrist, lugs hanging over the edge, looking like a girl!. I like a 39mm for a dress watch, suits my wrist perfectly
-
i preferred at least 41mm and 46mm is acceptable too(although my wrist is not so big)
-
Do you guys go through a phase of changing your fave watch size? I went from what I deemed as bigger watches (>42mm), to a long many years phase of 36mm (dress) - 40/42mm (diver), and recently found that I had been flipping and buying such that most of my current beaters are 44-47mm. And because of that, the 20/22mm straps that I have had to go in the cabinet for a while, while I get the 24mm ones to match the bigger watches.

I tend to disagree on this. I think the Explorer 2 wears more like a 40mm to me. :)

Apart from wrist size, wrist shape plays an equally important factor here. I have a 6" wrist but flat, I like watches between 42-44mm.

I have chopstick wrists, so 40mm is the best size for me personally. I have bought and sold watches because of this - it took me a while to figure out that sweet spot, so I'm getting rid of anything over 40mm that I have.
-
42mm and above! But there are watches that still wear big under 40mm like AP 15300. So i really depends on the design.

I have 6.5" wrist. So I prefer around 36-40mm. Lug to lug should not exceed 48mm. Case thickness below 13mm.

For sport tool watches preferably at size 40mm and above.
For dress watches should be fine with in 36mm to 40mm

I believe it's refreshing to have a variety of sizes in your collection. Certain watches with their history and heritage in mind are meant to be worn big or small (I.e. 45mm+ flieger watches & classic 36mm datejust)
But it's all up to your personal preference, you like small or big sized watches regardless of wrist size - go for it!
With my 6.25 wrist -
Dress 34 to 38mm
Tool/Sports/Versatile 36 to 42mm
