I am not the biggest friend of car-watch analogy, for I have little knowledge in car.
That said, I am still keen to play.
To get the watch - car analogy, one will first need to get his / her own "watch ranking" in order.
To me:
Top Tier: Patek = Roll Royce; A. Lange & Söhne = Maybach; Audemars Piguet = Maserati;
Vacheron Constantin = High line Alfa Romeo; Richard Mille = Pagani
Luxury: Rolex = Mercedes-Benz; Cartier = Jaguars;
Jaeger-LeCoultre = Bugatti;
IWC = Porsche; Girard-Perregaux = Alfa Romeo; Grand Seiko = Lexus; Chopard = ?
Premium: Omega = BMW; Hublot = Audi; Panerai = Rover; Franck Muller = ? ; Breitling = ?
Mass market:Tudor = Golf R; B & R = Triumph bike;
Montblanc = Aston Martin;
Frederique Constant = Volvo;
TAG Heuer (TAG or no TAG, it sounds to me like marketing gimmick, as far as modern watches are concerned) = McLaren; Tissot = VW; Seiko = Toyota; Longines = Peugeot; Tag Heuer = ?; DW = RC car
Based on my own tiering, it seems like the underlined brands are either paired too highly with their motor counterpart (Montblanc, Heuer, JLC) or too low (Vacheron)?
PS: Do include Zenith, or one of our moderator would not play this game
Also, these are some other names that should be included: Glashutte Original, Breguet, Blancpain, Piaget, Nomos, Ulysse Nardin.
