Importing watches in

Has anyone ever had any issues importing a watch into country? I guess this is someway linked to my previous post on duty free Malaysia but I keep hearing conflicting stories.  If you import a watch is it likely to be held up in customs and are duties payable?

Bro Broxi, although I don't know the answer to your question but I do know you can go to Malaysian Custom Website. They have an on line enquiry. You type in your queries and they will reply to you within 3 days ( I think ). I used it before buying staffs from Amazon. Very useful. And best of all they are black and white answers from the custom itself. What more do you want?  :thumbsup:

There are no taxes or duties for importing watches into Malaysia.

I have bought few watches from overseas. Never had any problem before. I would advice you to ask them to ship via DHL or FEDEX and it will reach straight to ur door step ... If go thru pos malaysia a bit hassle.. U need to go to sepang to claim and do ur own custom papers...

if the watch come with a strap that is made up of animal that is protected under CITES then you have to apply the animal skin import license from perhilitan  :)

been buying watch from japan, germany, singapore, hong kong, usa, canada,

no issue with shipping and custom. usa and canada takes longer time frame to reach.

Ya DPKong is right. There is no import duty or sales tax for watches.
You can check here:
http://tariff.customs.gov.my/

The HS code for watched is 9101
