Scammer Alerted
« on: October 21, 2016, 08:56:14 AM »
Opening this thread for alerting any scamming watch trade.

From Paneristi forum,

Hate to be the bearer of bad news especially for myself.
I was in discussions for a timepiece with Anton' at Gloria Fine Watches in Indonesia. I did all my reference checks and he was totally trustworthy etc
After the second email the genuine sellers email [email protected] was hacked and on the side of this email was a "tick" and a very similar email [email protected] that managed to divert all the email traffic to and from Anton and myself to the scammer. The scam email was hidden and if you have eye trouble like myself it is an easy trap to fall into.
All the important banking details and contact info from the genuine Anton were kept from me and replaced with the bogus accounts. The M£ucker kept me entertained with fake pictures and really impressive watch knowledge.
I sent funds $11550 to Bank of America in Phoenix to "James Williamson" account
Routing 122101706
Acct 457030805637
Swift BOFAUS3N
Address 4605 East Chandler Blvd
Phoenix AZ 85048
USA
I have reported this fraud to my bank but they have told me already that the funds have been cleaned out. Banks do not offer debit card customers any protection whatsoever even with the name of the scammer on the account. Everyone knows you need to declare social security card, passport, photo ID etc to open bank account!!! Does this apply in the US? Im sure? Where are our RIGHTS to prosecute these bas£ards????????? Do we have to rely on the authorities completely???
I have reported the scam to the FBI, Police over here in UK (actionfraud),Financial Ombudsman. Financial Commission and Yahoo moderator as well gmail. IP address in sunnyvale CA
I lost £9000 and im mad and i will make this my project in life to track the worthless piece of 'sh&t' down.
Just wanted to warn anyone out there to double check the emails and do not fall into the trap i fell into
Thanks for listening anyway and take care out there.
Regards Clive R Joel in UK

When it comes to online ads, always buy-the-seller. There are too many scammers out there, sometimes just beyond our imagination. One word of advice, if it is too good to be true, then don't take the risk.

About 10 years ago saw one ad for sale in mudah for a land rover with much lower price. Contacted the seller. The seller politely said she drove the car to Vietnam for humantarian purpose and later decide to settle down there with the family and sell the car. If I want the car I need to pay for the carriage to bring back the car without seeing the car.

So i did not bite.

After several months she put up again now different car and different location, same story same contact.

I warned her but then dunno what happened later. I believe some used cars dealers got cheater.

They prey on human weakness, greed and ignorant.

Here comes Mr.Ram again with a mint exp2 for sale

What's dangerous here is that since he is copying the ad as it is, it sounded convincing

Lots of such fellas on Mudah, that's why I go with the buy-the-seller principle. I have also flipped some 60+ watches, so I have had seen some of these scammers too. Most of the time, they would go with the :

1) Overseas or outstation purchase and funds already transferred (with some kind of receipt), and need you to send over immediately due to (insert whatsoever reason here). Counter : Unless I am comfortable with the buyer (check out references, etc), I would wait until the funds clear before courier.

2) Offer was so good that seller wants you to pay a deposit or in full, prior to checking out the watch. Counter : Ask for the current time and date pictures of said watch. Normally, they would back off when you require so as they would only have a couple of pictures lifted off the Net.

3) Good price but only has watch, no box or papers. Counter : Ask to deal at the authorised SC for verification purposes at my own cost. They would back off if they have a fake on hand. Certain brands are easier to tell- for instance, Rolex and Omega would be pretty evident once the caseback was off, and there has not been a fake Ball with the real Ball-renown tritium tubes.

Wherever possible, I would prefer to deal by COD within KL area, or at my housing estate if it involves anything more than RM10k. The way I reason, my place was well-known for its security and the buyer/seller would have to register first at the guard house (so I could retrieve any such details if something went wrong) and the other party also know my address so they could see that I am a genuine party.

As for this Ram chap, he has been operating under various guises but same phone no. and used to sell Seiko watches on the cheap (you could expect no delivery after payment) before moving up to Rolex recently. Quite a known party if you go through the Seiko forum, but there are still people who would get conned by him.
