Hidden Gem - Abandoned Seiko 5
« on: November 27, 2018, 05:21:45 PM »

Yesterday I found a person selling a Seiko 5 in Carousell, and I believe the seller didn’t even know what watch is his selling, only know that it was just a automatic Seiko watch that have a hazed crystal.

The seller offer me RM80, that is definitely a great bargain. He told me that he selling cheap is because the crystal was hazed and need to be replaced (I’m not sure why he has this kind of idea).

Based on my experience, this watch just need a basic cleaning from inside the crystal (moistures, you know), then the watch will back to live again. So I just bought it from the guy and start to service it.

At first, I didn’t know how exactly the dial looks like, but after done the service, and WOW! That is just amazing! The dial looks so refined! I have several Seiko 5 but the details was not as good as this one.

Here’s some photos of the watch after service. Enjoy!

The clasp used to have lots of tiny scratches. I brushed it by using Scotch-Brite.

WOW. Is it even the same watch? looks like a different watch after some TLC.
