Rolex DateJust, how to adjust the time?
« on: May 08, 2019, 11:50:56 AM »
Hi there,
Am new here.

Just bought a Rolex Datejust few weeks back. Didnt wear it yet until today. So needless to say the battery died out after 2 days or so.

Now, i remember the sale girl taught me how to adjust..but i worry i might get it wrong and damage the crown or something.

Below are the steps i remember. Appreciate if you guys could help me confirm if it is correct, or if i miss out any steps.

1) Screw the Crown anti-clockwise to loosen it
2) Then pull-out the Crown to 1st click, set the Date to yesterday's
3) Pull the Crown all the way out
4) Then adjust the time until it has passed 11.59PM to show changes to today's date, before completing to current time
5) Push the Crown all the way in
6) Then screw it clock-wise to tighten it

Anything else i miss out?

Thank you all in advance!

Your Rolex Datejust battery ran out? How so? Is it an oyster quartz?

Sorry for not being specific

It is a non-quartz.

So 'energy' can only last few days as i didnt wear it and keep it in its box.

I am assuming that by now, the automatic power should have ran out.

Your watch didn't come with user manual?
And the SA didn't explain how to set the time?

Bro ! Good question ! He also can bring the watch back to the sales person or make a phone call to them. My buyer always do the same thing. They will call me.

The reason i ask here was because i am always with my notebook 10 hours or so a day

while i need to arrange for proper time to be able to drop back to the AD.

Hence i reckon it would  be faster to get an update here..as i assume those who own a rolex..would know such basic info on their fingertips.

but after 3 replies..i guess not many know much about rolex hahaa

will check out the user manual instead  :D

You need to bring the watch back to AD and don’t look for the sales girl, please look for the Manager and told him / her that your Rolex battery died after few days and please remember to ask them to use Swiss Battery namely Renata instead of some China battery.

Try shaking the watch and move it around a few times to get the automatic movement running and to start powering it up. Once it’s started then set the time as described by the person who sold you the watch. Wear it around to make sure it gets more power

I’m disappointed, I’m actually hoping you really go tell them your battery died and observe their reaction.
