Glycine watch brand in Malaysia
« on: April 07, 2011, 06:51:37 AM »
Hi guys,
I just want to share a piece of "news" from the grapevine with regards to Glycine brand in Malaysia. (Please note that I am unable to verify the accuracy of this news.)

It seems that the local AD has received notice to return their current stock of Glycine watches to the HQ (down south). This may mean that Glycine watches will soon disappear from the display shelves in Malaysia. So anyone who's been thinking of picking one up may be well advised to visit one of the AD outlets soon before the stock is boxed and shipped out.

I suspect that this move is somehow linked to the change in ownership of Glycine, as reported by Peter in this post: http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.php/topic,2481.0.html.
I won't be surprised if this matter is resolved successfully, and Glycine will return to Malaysian shores eventually. However you can most probably expect higher price tags to accompany the watches.

Hmmm seems strange that a brand would just revoke the dealership status so easily.

Unless they are going the brand boutique only route.

Never pay attention to this brand, but what is the price range of this watch?

As they all do....haih....
One of the attraction with Glycine is the affordability and quality/design they offered.
If they loose that, consumers will have much more choice in those price brackets.

Hi Peter,
I don't think the dealership is being revoked. It's more like a timeout until things can get sorted out with the new Glycine owners.

Then i dont quite understand the need to pull it off the shelf.
Just continue selling it and if need be just raise the price.

So if go and get one now, mean no warranty will be available?

So who's the retailer for this brand in the klang valley? Would be nice to pick up one - 7750. Some would rather sell at huge discount then packing and sending them back.

Unless it is 70% off their retail, I don't see a reason buying from them .... that's how steep is the pricing ...

What is the discount they gave to you, PM the info. I am interested, but lazy to purposely drive down to check out

20 minutes on my fist now:

1. I can't expect much for what I paid for, very good value for money
2. PVD coating - I know this will not last by the look of it.
3. Have that famous 7750 "wobble"
4. The rest - just works like a ETA 7750 - Precise

A shot comparing with watches I placed in my office:

Very much a chrono man from the collection. I see some nice b&r. I got my glycine at a great price, so I have no complains. As for the pvd coating, not very sure but I have to say that the pvd coating on my b&r has taken some beating and some if it has rubbed off. Overall it gives the watch character. :)
