Is Bolehland a notorious place to foreign grey dealer?
« on: August 15, 2012, 12:02:48 PM »
Just came across a link from PuristSPro:

http://patek.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-11/pi-5441163/ti-807948/s--22/

Apparently, American dealers refuse to deal with prospective buyer from here ........... is that true? ???

Seen quite a few Malaysians, with nice AP ROO LE, Patek Philippe & Lange posted at this forum. Wonder why they din post at MWF? ??? Understand the issue raised by Tony that risk of lost watch in transit that why grey dealer refuses to ship expensive pieces to bolehland.

But, why dont these collector not post locally? ???

I heard it is because a lot of fraudulent orders are made from or being shipped to Malaysia.

Being a local forum, some might feel a bit shy to post as they worry it might be construed as "showing off"...

Shy may not be the correct word. When we gate crushed to the recent launch of high end London properties at a hotel in KL, seen quite a lot of easily recognisable APROO, Hublot & Patek; Rollie were hardly featured there! ??? Made us felt a bit malu & put our hand in the pocket all the time. :-[

Casually spoken to them abt local forum, they were aware, but rather share their hobby during their own prof niche meeting or in overseas forums. Wonder why ???

Some possible answers, apart from the shyness..

1. may think that the majority in this forum are not mature enough to appreciate the brands

2. not enough of a crowd here that own these brands

3. do not want to spend too much time on different forums and prefer to go to the established ones.

4. maybe they are members but just not posting the pieces

Personally, I do hope more would come and share the AP, PP, VC etc.. pictures and wristshots and give some buying advice. The itch is growing..

Most of your suggestions sound reasonable, esp "4. maybe they are members but just not posting the pieces", as suggested from a sales posted 13 Sep, already on hold yesterday (15 Sep):

http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.php/topic,6855.msg0/boardseen.html#new

May the successful buyer please come forward to post & educate us. Also the sellers of these nice pieces can also help to do some community services to the forum. Maybe can re-organise the forum into sub section with different brands & invite reputable brand owner to mod each brand? What do you think, admins?
