Hi guys, what are your views on the launch of the new Seiko 5 ? Total of 27 models. 100 WR with an entry level movement. Size is 42.5mm x 13.4mm, with Hardlex crystal and display back. Movement is a Seiko in-house caliber 4R36, beating at 21,600 vph; 41 hour power reserve.

Saw them on the Seiko website. Yet to see them in real life though.

Great entry level watches!
SRPD79K1 looks like a fun piece to have without having to break the bank.

gnomonwatches started selling on their website

A recycling of the SKX series case with a new movement and other cosmetics plus a huge price increase. ;D
But I do like the one with green textured dial and nato strap.

I like this one ~ SRPD77K1.
I checked with my dealer a little while ago. The stock hasn't arrived.
Photo belongs to Thong Sia's website.

Got my eye on that too. Surprisingly our neighbour in the south already got their stocks considering the main AD is the same as Malaysia’s.

In watches, as in cars, we are always one step behind in getting the latest models.

Based on spec alone I would say it is a let down, if you allow me... Just a small update to their 7S movement and the WR is so low... Not rated by ISO anymore too. The logo looks like from Superman. In any case and from other forums, seem Seiko fanboys would still buy.

They may called it Seiko Superman in the next iteration if they can get around the copyrights issue. ;D

There is a shift in Seiko product offering strategy. Historically, it was a free-for-all i.e. in terms of specifications and capabilities in every genre. Now, professional specifications would be the hallwark of Prospex. Seiko 5 would just be basic timepieces. Also, these new sets of Seiko 5s will now be highlighted on the website unlike the last time.
