STAR : Seiko Tuna Anonymous Rehab
« on: December 28, 2018, 08:54:48 AM »
Going through a bit of a Seiko Tuna craze at the moment and looking for support. Anyone here went through or going through the same phase? I have not been on such a phase for quite some time- the last was when I bought various reiterations of the Turtle Re-issue when it was launched, some for mod works and some as it were.

Almost 3 years ago, I added the Baby Tuna duo but they didn't tickled my fancy. So that was that.

Then some time back, I was going through some mod works and wanted to commission a bronze case of the NH35A-based Tuna but it was a pretty penny.

I then chanced upon pre-orders towards NH35A-based homage of the SBBN015. I contacted the supplier and we spoke about the trend towards lumed bezels like LCBI, etc. So we exchanged some ideas, I placed an order and few months later, I received these pieces.

One would think that this would have scratched that Tuna itch, but it opened a flood gate instead.

Then I wanted the real deal in the Tuna MM1000. So I did some reading and found that the one that tend to be highly-regarded was the Darth Tuna SBBN025. I just have to have that then...

These all came within a week or two from each other. But the Darth Tuna wore so well and comfortably that I started reading even more about this series.

At this point, I had the Darth Tuna and 2 NH-35A homages.

I decided that the one to get would be the Golden Tuna. Now the 1978 Golden Tuna Re-issue limited to 1978 pieces as launched in Baselworld 2018 would be the piece to get, but it was on pre-order at many sites and there were none at the local ADs. So I took on the Yellow Tuna SBBN027 and Rose Gold Tuna SBDX014 instead. But the Rose Gold Tuna would turned out to be rather big and unwieldy in my books.

And lo and behold, as if to wrap up 2018 with a bang and to start off 2019 on a good footing, I managed to grab the new 1978 Golden Tuna Re-issue! Not sure if it's true but the seller said that I am holding the 1st piece here in Malaysia.

The original piece in James Bond's For Your Eyes Only :

And the Re-issue :

Pray do tell that there were others like me in our MWF and that I would not be the only member of STAR (Seiko Tuna Anonymous Rehab). Do show your handsome Tuna pieces too  :o
