Daytona 116520 (what you think?)
« on: August 28, 2018, 11:49:53 PM »
Dear all Daytona expert.

Appreciate if you can give me some opinion and review on 116520 about it’s future appreciation (compare to other sports model), is it a collectible item? Pro and cons of this watch?

At the price range of 63-68k is it still a good price to enter? Thank you!

Am not a Daytona expert, but really like this model... with price appreciation, if you have the budget, just go ahead in my opinion

Prices are a bit high but you would not lose money. Collectible, for sure. Appreciation, slowly but surely. The massive price spike has already occurred so don't expect a boom.

This particular SS Daytona is just as hot as the current Ceramic Bezel Daytona back then.
Discontinued model, undoubtedly a collector favorite.

Daytona is pretty high demand in the market, consider a good appreciate value for long run.

Panda is 20k extra I guess. Can get a Honda city with this price. White dial I heard is going for almost 90k now :(

Well, you can't really compare the Daytona to the City, I guess. One appreciates on an annual basis, the other goes the other way. One has people remarking that you have taste, the other has some making fun of you as an Ah Beng (well, perhaps in SG only anyway). In any case, I find that investing in selected pieces within Rolex tend to have better returns that FD even; and the best part is, you get to wear them and have fun

Best advice by far. The spike is over. . whatever you pay now you can only hope it will hold.

Look for pointers by looking at Panerai and AP ROO hype..

Watches are never an investment. A good bet maybe if you're lucky.

I hope it would come down so I can purchase my dream watch at a lower cost. But having said that if you look at Rolex history over 40 years the price only go North and it never head south. Up or down next only time will tell.

Say what we want; but at the end of the day, the 116520 is a today's classic and looking real fine in the process too.

Even a Kermit cost at least 50K-80k now. A new HULK is 50k. I think Daytona price is still ok la.

I still prefer the ones with ceramic bezel because the colour doesn’t fade and it’s scratch-proof.

Go for the one with Zenith movement, Rolex old watch always looks more balanced.

Yeh 100k-200k depending on condition and series for those. As for your 116520, I believe it’ll hold up much better than its ceramic counterpart in terms of value, just don’t expect it to spike high. So as long as you get a SS sports Rolex, it’ll hold its value in the future. Just try not to buy a watch as an investement I believe?
