Thanks @kettle and @vinorus bros.

Yes, the gst is 6% . But due to my freight is foc so custom put 10% of selling price as freight. Then custom dept charge a further 10% as service fee for parcel value above RM 1000.

So my GST amount is RM 138.50 for item value at RM 1,970.55.

I didn't argue and just paid everything as told.

Hi MWF members

I just purchased a Glycine watch from the US.
Now that we're back to the SST regime, does anyone know if any import duties or taxes which I have to pay?

Thank you

Fedex will contact you first  before it even reaches the customs to confirm some details. Very efficient

No, FedEx did not contact me was charged 5% SST on the total cost inclusive of the shipping charges. Paid during self collect at FedEx center. Surprised that there we no handling charges by FedEx

Strange! For my parcels, FedEx had always contact if kena tax. Other times, the delivery guy will call to confirm I'm around before sending. Never had i need to self collect. But i always kena FedEx Free commercial zone (or something like that) charges of RM 5 every time.

That's why I am surprised too. The lady at the collection center told me that they won't contact the recipient of the tax is lower than 500.
I opted for self collect coz I can't wait further. And you are correct that they have this RM 5 charges.

I'm thinking of buying a watch from Stowa.

Anyone can suggest a courier with the least hassle if held by customs?

Is the duty 5% on the cost of the watch and shipping?

I prefer DHL and FedEx .. at least they are more professional.
The 5% tax in on the watch and shipping cost. That was what I paid last week for my watch.

Always use the big boys courier for valuable stuff, companies like DHL, FEDEX and UPS. Do buy third party insurance too. Saving a bit on shipping is not worth it.

Usually when you send high value stuff the courier would recommend. Premium is a percentage if goods being couriered.

I plan to appoint pos laju as the handling agent to clear customs for my glycine. I already received the letter from them.

I need to go to pos Malaysia, pay rm48 + duties + taxes. After that what do I do?

TIA
