« on: December 15, 2018, 11:44:21 AM »
Hello,

Just want to ask opinion.
I was quoted 51k for brand new gmt master batman.  :o which make it a true legendary watch for me..
is it still worth it?

Or should i go for hulk instead..

Sigh..

Had one & sold it. Wouldn't bother if i were you. Premium is too high.

Sea Dweller 43, gmt master black, 2 tone daytonas etc. are more exciting pieces IMO.

Try finding a Tudor Black Blay GMT as well. Good value for a solid swiss machine also with GMT function.

Not for me. And the hulk is also overrated. These are crazy prices to pay for a stainless steel watch. And furthermore, I am a boring person, I like my watches to be black and steel.

I say go for a 116710LN or 116610LN or 114060LN.

Rolex might just want to put the newer 3285 movement into the BLNR or even the LN version, a crown logo will be place between the "SWISS MADE" under the six o clock marker for identify or differentiate the old and new movement. Some rumour even said the new BLNR will follow BLRO in which will come with Jubilee bracelet.

Sooner or later Rolex will also update the Submariner (LN, LB and LV) with the newer 3235 movement.

However, let's say LV is not in their "update list", the exact model will then be "discontinue" with 3135 movement, the theory could apply on BLNR too, if Rolex is not going to update the model, it will discontinue for sure.

Thanks bro for the good info. The dealer said the rumors that it will be discontinue soon.. and the watch is sold by the way. Someone snatch it at 51.5k...  i really dont know if it is healthy for the price to go up like crazy.

There's so much hype over most stainless steel models that it's scary. I'm avoiding Rolex new pieces at premium prices at the moment

The prices for the hulk and batman is just ridiculous. But people are still willing to pay premium for them

I will avoid all these premium on stainless steel model for now.
How time has change over the years. One can easily get a LV back in 2015/2016 below RM35k from AD. Today it’s like so “rare” to even see one in AD.

Premium prices are clearly unjustified given the other options ie two tone Rolex, starter APs, solid gold Omegas etc.

Is the hype worth it?

The premium price of the BLNR is matches up with the LV already at 57K.
Noticed a secondary dealer listed a BLNR on their website at 57K, marked sold after a few minutes, so yes, people are still willing to spend 57K for batman.

Yes, the premium for Batman had definitely increased a fair bit. A friendly associate was kind enough to pass me 2 new pieces over the weekend to pass on to fellow collectors; and the very next day, one of the collectors put up an advert and sold it at RM55k in just an hour or so. So yeah, the premium on Batman ain't no Joker these days  :Startled:

Too much premium for Batman and Hulk. Look for a preowned watch will be better.

That's Rolex anyway. It has been the culture since day one. I believe you wouldn't want to see it depreciates by 50% the moment you buy and step out from a watch dealer shop..
I bought my first 16613LB in 1996 for RM 10k, sold it at 2016 for 29k. I guess market price now is over 33k easily, And bought my 16600 Sea Dweller at 13.5k in 2003. That is Rolex anyway..
2017 and 2018 is huge spike. Could be due to the over demand from China and other factors..
Dollar to dollar is still relatively affordable in some countries but could be a burden if conversion to MYR.
In my opinion, goes with what you like & your own affordability..
Just my opinion to share..
Cheers and happy CNY !
Crown all the way...Rolex

just sold my batman. there's room for the value to increase since the blro is already at high 60s low 70s.

it sucks paying premium, but that's the game you're in. do note that you will be able to sell it at a higher price than what you paid for.

i wouldn't go for the hulk over the batman. the green is super flashy and it's sunburst (notice how all the sunbursts in the oyster perptuals are priced lower than the matte white?). the color also has no function. plus, the hulk has to compete against the kermit, which imo is a better watch, being non maxi case and all.

ultimately, buy what you like. good luck and enjoy!
