poor man P.O??
« on: January 06, 2013, 01:08:02 PM »
I recently acquired the Orange Bezel Orient Mako II. I used to own the Black Mako and sold it long ago albeit being happy with it.Some short review on the new Mako i owned

- The orange bezel is the new version of the Mako II. If I am not wrong it was launched in late 2011. The black Mako II i used to own was the original production line.
- The new is slightly better than the old one, though for the price the old (black Mako II) is not a bad product at all. The most significant changes is the bracelet. The old bracelet though look solid , feel a bit flimsy and make a lot of clicking noise. That problem has been eliminated in this new line.
- As per old black Mako, the lume is weak on this orange bezel mako.
- Other than that, this is a great watch. The build is solid, the movement is solid. I suspect this beat at 21k hz base on the sweeping movement of the second hands. It is good but not super smooth like high frequency movements. The power reserve is about 50 hours.
- I love the orange bezel...in a way it resemble the Omega orange P.O.... a poor man version....ehehehhe
- They still maintain the solid case back. I suspect as they dont want to invest on decorating the movement.
- My personal opinion and base on my own preference, I couldnt find any other watch, at similar price that is as good as this Mako....it is wicked....slap other swiss brand on this watch , it could be priced 10 times more than what it is
- I love the size. 45mm is suitable for me.
- I love the weight...it is heavy and feel solid
- I am a happy WIS with this watch....
- For what I paid...this is a perfect watch to me

They now give the best bang for the buck. Even more so than Seiko Diver. In the midst of purchasing one for my brother. Would be his first-ever automatic watch.

At first glance I actually thought it was the omega po haha. Glad that you’re enjoying it
