Speedmaster Professional or Explorer 114270
« on: March 18, 2019, 07:53:37 PM »
I have an almost 3 months old Speedmaster Pro Hesalite. Recently been thinking if I should trade in (with top up) the Speedy to get an
Explorer 114270 (more than 10 years old) instead. Both are icons but it's a very different watch. Would like to have both but at the moment only can choose one in order to make room for others.

What do you guys think ? Has anyone done this before?

Never done it before. Personally I'd keep the Speedmaster Pro for its wearability. Also i love the chronograph look. But if simplicity is your thing and you can wear the 36mm comfortably then you cant go far wrong with the 114270.
Your ONLY job in this world is to make sure that you are happy

To me, depends on your preference:

1. Chrono vs. time only (to me sometimes I’d want to wear a chrono for a sportier/casual look, and time only for a more smart-casual mode)

2. 42mm vs. 36mm (to me personally, 36mm is too small for my wrist)

3. Lastly, Moon vs. Everest. Lol! Both have great history behind it.

I’d go for both! Haha. Simply because it gives 2 different looks depending on your style of the day. ;)

my guess is that you will also have to top up with some cash for the Exp1.

I would change too, the Explorer is a simple yet understated watch that's gaining a bit of love.

While I was still contemplating, I missed a pretty good deal :( The Explorer is selling like hotcakes lately.

You're right about that. But you can't deny Explorer is not selling well and sought after.  :mooning:

I would suggest that you keep the Speedmaster.  And save up to buy a Rolex later on (if you really want one).

The Speedmaster are one of the few Omegas (in my opinion) that will stand the test of time, in terms of wearability.

Plus its a Chrono!

If it was an Eii, then I would encourage you to do the trade by all means. But if compared against the Ei, then the Speedy has much more going for it, especially since it's evergreen and will always enjoy a cult following amongst us #speedytuesday lovers. Alternatively, trade up towards an LE Speedy and enjoy the attention that comes along with it, especially when you are wearing it in the wild. Allow me to poison you with some Speedy pieces hereabouts  ;D
