Omega moonwatch. Hesalite version.

If utility sport, Exp1 is hovering just above 20k if u stretch it slightly.

Grand Seiko is another great option as well.

A new Tudor Black Bay 58 or Black Bay GMT, with some change.

Pelagos is titanium. It won't have the shine of stainless steel, but it is lighter.

Yes. It's light weight.. Titanium doesn't look luxury?

I think the forum needs a bit more info:

1. Is this your only watch?
2. Do you prefer auto/manual wind?
3. Used or new?
4. Any complications required?

I think if it is your only watch, it will have to be a simple Rolex (no date perpetual if you prefer new or datejust pre-owned). Alternatively it will be an Omega, Tudor or even Zenith. You can also look at some pre-owned JLCs.

20k takes you to a number of choices, take your time and enjoy the hunt!

I would also consider Cartier as a luxury brand. Come to think of it, I would not consider Omega, IWC, Breitling, Tudor or even a Grand Seiko to be luxury brands, they are more sports watches albeit some at a high end. It's a personal opinion as to what luxury means.

Yeah, like the earlier post mentioned - u need to shed more light on your preference such as dial size, steel / leather rubber bracelet, in house or outsourced movement etc.

20k is indeed a nice budget to start with.

there are many used branded sport watches under RM20k. U might need to provide more details of your preference.

I think the question is, what do you view the piece as? What is the environment you operate in?

A speedy is useless if you intend to dive with it, a Sub might not be suitable if you do black tie events, a GS might look out of place if you rep t shirt and jeans.

So, what's the intention of this piece? Does brand perception matter? Or brand heritage? Or technology? Or versatility?

Another criteria to consider is that you enjoy looking at the watch and enjoy wearing it.  You might buy one due to brand or features, but you might get bored looking at it..

i personally think you should go to an AD or retailer and browse around for the watches that you might like. we can give our opinions here on what we think is a nice sports watch but ultimately you are going to wear it, so only you would know what you really want
Never Tidur on Tudor

It sounds like you just have 20k to splash and have no idea what you want. Like a lot of forumers mentioned, you’re not providing any details or preferences. It’s hard to help you out.

IMO, if you’re approaching it like this, perhaps go with a mechanical piece from the likes of Seiko/ Citizen/ Swatch. They generally range anywhere from Rm200 to Rm2000. These are brands well known for offering ‘alot of watch’ for the money spent.
It’s better to spend RM200 on a Seiko 5, save the other RM19.8k and buy something you’ll really love and cherish after you’ve gain a deeper appreciation for watches and have become familiar with what different brands have to offer. Cheers.

Take your time to hunt, read and trying it on to avoid buyers remorse.
Appreciate the dial, the heritage, movements, and bracelet or strap type.
Most of the watches I bought only after pining and wanting it for more than 6 months.
That's when I know its the one that I want.

If you can top up a little bit more, I would suggest you to take explorer 2 40mm polar around rm25k.   Good luck in hunting~

Malaysia is about the cheapest non-Rolex market going

For a sports watch, depending in wrist size, I rate:

Omega Planet Ocean - I use the XL 45.5mm. You can dress it on steel for the office, I dress mine on orange rubber for holidays. Mines has taken a beating and it’s never complained. It also isn’t a scratch magnet due to the bezel size and semi brushes case.

Target price 8-10k

Panerai Base PAM 000 - wears fairly small, you can dress it with a plethora of custom leather creations. It does noticeably mark and scratch but is robust.

Target price 11-13k

Tudor Black Bay - any of them come in under budget and wear fairly large. Nice finish and robust.

Target Price 9-13k

Rolex Explorer - Stretching up to just over 20k will get you an Explorer 2.
Difficult, difficult, lemon, difficult

Thank you guys for sharing so much info..

After a few visit at boutique, i'm kinda of interested on Tudor Pelagos (42mm) or Black Bay 58 (41mm) The sales rep told me both are in house movement. Kinda suit me for daily wear..

With 20k. the best choice i can think of is Tudor Blackbay and Omega Moonwatch. Both are highly reliable watch and considerable resell value
