Hi Hobbit,
Nice macro shots. The images look sharp with lotsa details. Love the patina on the Magrette.
Some minor comments: The lighting in the dial shots of the Omega seems just a little bit dim. You may be able to tweak the exposure if you have the raw files.

Hi danny,

Yeah RAW is something I have yet to get into. Thanks for the tip.

Is it the intention of having the pics abit on the dark side?

I am trying to get that 'black' background effect you see in those professional photographs.

Yeah it is a bit under exposed. Am trying to get another flash and see if I can do those photo studio setup. As for the sharpness, it is the lens, the 60 mm macro is one awesome lens.

Or you can get a lightbox (suitcase look a like) for this kind of shoot ;)

Hi Scott,

I have a light box. Trying to improve on the handheld shots and on the move shots.

You can use a black paper or cloth to use as the background, rather than under expose the picture.
Your reply #13 first picture showed some over exposed part, but my guess is that the lighting and the angle caused this incident.

Anyway, very awesome macro pictures from the 60mm lens, Master Hobbit!
Love the close-up pictures as well as your watch collection.

Thanks for the tips. The over exposed parts are due to the reflection on the domed crystal.

Personally, I think the shots are really great, if a little under exposed, as others have mentioned.

May I ask, what size of light box are you using?

I'm trying to take good shots with a Canon G12, used to have a Canon A650 and the results are similar withthe old camera. I'm pretty sure it is just me, but I have all sorts of trouble trying to take the shots and avoid the reflections of either my hands, the camera or both.

cheers
richard.

PS. the image of the omega logo on the crystal, sensational.

Hi Richard,

While I have a light box (small one, 18x18 inch), I don't use it as much as I should. These shots were taken without a light box.
