Anyone here own the latest Rolex Air King? Worth it? I am thinking to get it for everyday use, work or casual.
-
My brother bought it "Impulse Buy" but he prefers sub but then again every individual has it's own taste :)
-
Don’t like it?
-
Not really, he said he will sell it.
-
The Air King remains one of the cheapest entry level Rolexes available despite being deeply steeped in the company’s rich history. Whether it is worth to buy will depend on the age and aspirations of the buyer (and Budget of course!). Personally, I believe the watch will be a transitional one, as a stepping stone to beginning to explore the new buyer’s interest in the history.
The watch’s deep history will Ensure it remains in the collections of. War veterans for instance, and while it contains the familiar Rolex style of quality -it does not have any visually standout features of the modern era so I would suggest a good updated pre-owned piece may not be a bad place to start especially as it will likely keep its value in resale should you decide to upgrade later.
-
You may want to look at the vintage unit of AirKing 5500. A very nice and excellent piece of watch..
-
I think the latest design of the air king is really nice. It's understated so will fly under the radar easily, plus you get the durability and accuracy of a Rolex mechanism. I personally would get one if i were in the market for a new watch.
-
Yes i agree with the ref 5500. I am eyeing it as well :P
-
what meant by worth? price not equal to money, but as long as you like it, just go for it
-
to wear or to keep? you should get something you can relate to if you wish to wear it daily. i would go for explorer if you have to compare with one of the rolex sports between the range.
-
Yes for sure, reasonable price

I thought the 3-6-9 numerals and position is quite striking but maybe that's me. Also there was a report of the 3 & 9 having an error making the price of the batch of Rolex skyrocket for collectors.

Air king dial design is very unique and 40mm is very comfortable for daily watch. It will sing to you if you like the design.
-
I would prefer the discontinued Air Kings. The current one's dial seem too busy.
-
If you're attracted to the dial design, go for it
I was attracted to it last year. Was considering to purchase or not.. when I return to the AD, it was sold. And during the no tax period, couldn't get it anywhere. Still can't get it anywhere now
-
Everyday wear would be great for daily wear. Low profile and match with formal wears.
-
It's a good tool watch. Friendly price.
-
Vintage design is better. New one is too messy I think.
-
Opted against one and went for a Milgauss instead this week. The Airking seemed a little confused and without an identity.
The Milgauss had more of a edge in its personality.

Wait.. is there any AD with the milgauss in stock? Is it the green glass with blue or black dial?
-
Try Perth, they had this week, GV in black not the Z sadly.
I’ve only seen the Z in stock in Dubai recently, tried KL, Sing, Bangkok on work trips but nothing.

Awesome! What's the price like? Spotted one on wingwah at 35k+
-
Milgauss is hard to find too now?
-
Definitely worth to buy as the retail price less than MYR25k, even some seller selling premium, i guess it is still under MYR28k.

Tbf, was never a fan of the air king but after wearing my cousins watch for some time, i realised that i started liking it

Same here.. see in photos like ugly.. saw in AD immediately fell for it.. went back considered whether to buy or not to buy.. went back to AD both units sold
-
Rolex Air King is really one of a kind, you'll hardly find a Rolex with Yellow Rolex Coronet/Crown Logo, Green (Rolex Corporate Colour) "ROLEX" wording and a very distinctive Green Seconds Hand.
Not now but this piece will get much love or attention it deserved when Rolex decided to discontinue or change the overall design (back to the old air king), perhaps.
-
Go for it, it's a nice constructed piece with it's simple design with all it's heritage in Rolex's professional range.
-
started off finding it really ugly but when i saw it being match with a rubber B , somehow i don't mind having one in my collection
-
Agreed. The Air-King is starting to grow on me as well especially when paired with a rubber b strap.
-
I saw this watch at a grey dealer yesterday. In pictures it looks ungainly with no elegance. In person, it's completely different. You think, "Wow, everything works together so well." Sometimes I think these youtube reviewers have not had an opportunity to really see the watch in real life. Granted, it may not be for everyone. But it's definitely not the design disaster it's made out to be.

I've got a feeling people are getting these watches at discount and keeping it mint/sealed to hope for a sudden popularity boost. No doubt it's a really colorful ROLEX.

Discount probably 2 years back i guess.. now you need a buying profile even for air king / milgauss
-
I think it's a watch that will grow on you over time. Initially won't wow you but eventually it's appeal will start to win you over.
-
Doesn't speak to me personally, but I'd say buy what you like.
-
I had a hard time to decide between Air King and GS initially.. Rolex always has this appealing factor and has been a "The Brand" since i know watches.
Anyway i ended up with GS eventually because i want something different and niche...
-
The current Air-King is quite similiar to the Explorer 1. I did not like it much back then and still dont like it today, more so with the current high prices.
-
sure worth to buy to wear not buy for value appreciation... btw i just got my AK weeks ago... ;D
-
Agreed, buy watch dont think of appreciation, like buying car
-
At least its less percentage to clashed with others people wrist. When something goes mainstream, we go alternative.
-
I like the green text that Rolex is written in on the dial.
-
Love the green, gold on rolex air-king, its nice..
39 explorer has got less wrist present...
-
Nobody seems bothered by the imbalance caused by the 55 and 5 on the dial?
Wouldn't it be more balanced if it was 55 and 05 ?
-
After liking it for a while, i remembered why i didnt pull the trigger back then and have gone on the fence again. the imbalance on the dial is one of the factors why i didnt like it enough.

Isn't it? I've seen it in passing a few times but never could pinpoint what felt wrong with it. Then a good look revealed my OCD with balance and symmetry..

Actually prefer the older airking but bit smaller vs 40mm now. But the new design looks like a speedometer to me which I dont like but to each its own
-
As long you like it, definitely worth it. In term of value, this sport model also keep increasing. So you can earn for wrist time and no loss even resell to grey market.
-
As long as Rolex :)

The price you see grey dealers asking for a watch are not the same price they pay you when you want to sell them one.. and you can expect them to offer you 10k below what they sell it for... minimum

All AD will low-ball and u’ll take the biggest hit for selling back to them...
Unlike order days, now with massive social medias and selling platforms , I think it’s much easier to sell to end user now
-
I think air king is good for daily use…
-
As long as you like ... ask urself ... if you love it just buy it ... cheers bro

Most people never liked it but once all the other sport models shoot up in price, then this one becomes the most affordable. And nowadays, grey are even selling at premium so immediately it becomes popular.

Air King is in the game now, sarcastic of sports models.
Buy the watch we really love eventually, sometimes we really dont have to think too much.
-
Difinitely it's a nice watch to buy
-
Not bad ... but for me I will choose Explorer 1 (39mm) more comfortable

Yes, if 37k for a rolex air king

And they actually fixed this in the new Air King... too bad they had to add crown guards and put it in the Professional category..
-
u look back now and ask yourself again... is it worth to buy? ;D
-
The Rolex Air King was the first Rolex watch I bought. Since I got the watch, it has been one of my preferred.
