Another unexpected find...
« on: July 04, 2010, 09:31:48 PM »
Was in an unfamiliar part of town late Saturday morning when I spotted a watch shop and decided to go in to take a look see.

And this what I came out with.

Lets see what we have here

It's the Orient Sub Homage

I could not resist not taking this home with me. I blame it on all the Rolex poison on MWF  ;D

Some wrist shots

First impression:
Love its similarity in design to the Sub. Love the big crown and very prominent crown guard. Not heavy but not too light either. Also like the thick caseback which give the watch a more solid look.
Bezel got a bit of a wobble. Turns ok but not as smooth as a monster or sumo. Lume is poor.
Decent bracelet. I like the brushed finish they put on it.

Overall  I like it! Despite its shortcomings, it still gives very good value for my money.

Thanks for looking.

I've seen this in my fren's shop. I thought it was one of the best sub homage that I've seen. It looked small to me but from your wrist shot it actually looks to be a decent size. Or perhaps the one I saw was a mid size model?

Anyhow, congrats on a great find. Now go put it on a Zulu strap.  ;D

And so ngam also today an Orient is on my wrist.

I got the same Orient Sub & also the orange Mako II before. A very nice watch to wear. The Mako II is very solid & heavy. Only let down by the push button. Overall... nice & solid feel.

Errm.. no close up of the dial.  :-[

The 5th picture captures the dial quite nicely. Yes, it a matte black colour. With very subtle sunburst effect which can be seen from certain angles.
