Speedy Tuesday 2 Ultraman
« on: July 11, 2018, 03:59:57 PM »
Hi Guys,

Managed to score one of these yesterday. ETA - August 2018 I'm told.

Looks alone, this is an awesome piece with the orange motifs and DON (dot over ninety). NATO is somewhat ho hum but the leather strap has promise.

Movement is the standard 1861 so hardly any surprises there. As for me, being a 1st time Speedy Tuesday owner is an exciting prospect.

One little bummer about the whole limited edition thing is the fact Omega keeps dishing them out. Exclusivity is somewhat diminished but hey...that's the supposed narrative of the brand

Your thoughts?

Hi welcome to the forum and congrats on your SpeedyTuesday Ultraman

Speedy has been getting more popular in last few years especially on the vintage ones. It is inevitable for Omega (or any manufacturers) to capture the wave.

The good news is, the standard version moonwatch is still available with pretty affordable price I must say. You can even get some decent discount from the friendly ADs.

That being said, I can't wait for my Ultraman to arrive too  ;D

Ah congrats on yr order

Definitely riding on the popularity wave right now. Doesn’t look it’s waning either since it has been 1.5 yrs post speedy 1.

Judging by yestersay’s response, more and more folks are buying into it. So much for all the negativity on unlimited no of limited editions  :-[

Apparently one was snapped up on ebay for circa usd14k. Go figure :shocked1:

Rgds.

RM6000 more on the retail price (forget about getting a discount on this) on a NATO compare to a standard Moonwatch on a steel bracelet. Ok the stepped sub-dials, DON bezel, touches of orange and goodies provided with the watch bring something different. But I am still puzzled and would not have personally bought this particular model.

From what happened with the previous Snoopy award LE and last year Speedy Tuesday LE, I suspect a lot of people are trying to make a quick and easy profit on those watches.

Me thinks there are hordes of people out there trying to make a fast buck on any ‘hot’ item they get their hands on. Rolex Daytona GMT root beer anyone?

Premiums are appalling nowadays but what can you do when there’s nary a thing that turns a fairly quick profit these days... :'(

Conditional SPA before completion very risky lorrr. Luckily no need to sign SPA for watch  :)

I got mine too. Will be my 2nd speedy. The colors are eye popping.
I think Omega's limited editions are getting more attention nowadays thanks to watch blogs such as Fratello.
Also the power of Instagram as I only noticed the news from IG and immediately stalking Omega's website.  ;D

Yes...naysayers aside, online ordering has turned out be less of a gimmick and indeed a fairer way for us mere mortals to purchase.

I mean, look at the dastardly practice of certain establishments selling popular models in packages. Should be looked at from the angles of anti-profiteering and restrictive trade practices  >:(

Preferential treatment for VVIPs is a sore point for many of us and should be reviewed by parent companies.

Couldn’t agree more with you.

We place our orders online for a fair price and get what we pay for without drama and requests from unscrupulous ADs/Boutiques to buy other pieces first or add a premium on the MSRP.

Similarly, the massive price increase in the last 10 years from most of the Swiss brands (and a particular British one) to appear more high-end is insane. Except a handful of brands, they can all be had at 20%-30% off. What does it say about the real value of their products?
