Seiko Divers SKX009 VS Seiko Sports SNZF15
« on: February 20, 2020, 07:34:16 AM »
Dear MWF members,

Both are discontinued but still available in the market.

 - Seiko Divers SKX009 has a 200m WR rating, the crown at 4 o'clock, solid back case, a couple hundreds RM more expensive compares to Seiko 5 Sport.

 - Seiko 5 Sports SNZF15 has a 100m WR rating, the crown at 3 o'clock, transparent back case, couple hundred cheaper than Seiko Divers.

Both are around 42mm which is ideal for my wrist size and the movement 7S26/7S36 are both pretty much identical.

I have a Seiko mini turtle blue face and really love it, have been thinking of getting SRPC41 but at the same time don't want to have 2 turtles. i know there's the new Seiko 5 Sport (superman) pepsi bezel as well but not a big fan of the new shinny blue face.

So which one would you pick among the 2?

If you want a real dive watch then get the SKX.

I will go for the Skx009. I think it is easier to sell or mod if you ever get bored with the watch.

P.S - Have a blue mini turtle as well. Great watch and just for another zimbe mini turtle.  ;D

With the premium on the SKX i thought it has a better movement than the seiko sports but apparently not, so just wondering what the price premium is based on, if anyone can explain?

Both watches have the same 7S movement.

Seiko 5 Sports is a cheaper range. It has lower water resistance and no screwdown crown.

The SKX is a higher range real diver. It has higher water resistance. The crown is screwdown. All these makes it a higher priced watch.

Asnwer is easy ..SKX009 for sure - The SKX series are ISO certified dive watches
plus if you're into modifications there is a whole range of aftermarket stuff and large fan base

To chip in,

Ill go for the SKX based on the discontinuity itself. If you want to get the seiko 5, u can get it anytime.
Also, u will be much more confident having a screw down crown when u need to rince, shower, swim, or dive with your watch. Peace of mind. Worth it.
