Tissot Visodate 1957 Automatic
« on: February 22, 2010, 09:20:42 PM »
From Baselworld 2010. I'm not particularly a Tissot fan but I like the fact that they offer good value for money in a swiss brand. So when I saw this, I told myself I must have it (the white dial one). I love the simplicity and the vintage style tissot logo. This will make an excellent dress watch.

Launched in 1953 to celebrate Tissot's 100th anniversary, the Visodate drew on a rich history of innovation. At the time, the integration of a date display into an automatic movement was a feat of virtuosity, which Tissot has brilliantly recaptured in this very beautiful contemporary version. While today's model benefits from cutting-edge technology and materials, its vintage spirit has been preserved with the Tissot date and logo from 1953.

I rarely am attracted to black dials but this version is very nice. Really have the feeling and look of a vintage watch.

Size is very reasonable as well, and if the price can be had for usd500 and with discount then it looks like a good buy.

Hush,
Have you seen their current vintage line? quite attractive as well.

Yes, I have seen their vintage (heritage) line. But it's a little pricey. This new piece with RRP USD500 (will be much lower in Malaysia with discount and no tax) will be a really good bargain. It's already on Tissot's website under their current collection. Just a matter of waiting now for it to arrive on our shores.

I hope the black dial is not a gold plated case, if so i wish they just left it alone and have a black dial gold markers that would be sweet.

cant help.. the movement is small... so the date wheel originally is small.... unless heavy modification....
which not cost effectively....

I was reading the Edge this morning (13/4/10) and came across this preview.

It looks cool and domed sapphire crystal with a 40mm case. Retails from RM1820-RM1950.
Value for money.....

I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

Nice vintage look actually... except the date it very toward the center  :HammerHead:

If you look at the photo hijack by Hush, the middle one has a "4" on the far left window then follow by day and date... while the other 2 have without.... will that be more expensive? that "4" means Thursday right?

Good eye Scott. Maybe it's one of those date wheels where you can have 2 types of display; one with day and the other number & day. But it looks odd (to me) to have a number like that.

I just saw this model in its boutique... retail price at MYR1890 for SS model...

tried it on my wrist, love it ;) But a bit too light and the day-date window a bit toward center... overall, with this price, no complain :)

Almost bought it instantly :p
