Hi,
I being using N8 for most of time as tool to take photos of watches and general stuff. I was looking for new camera to complement my N8. Here my need
-Budget is around AUD500-600 but could be stretchable if justified
-Able to take super close up macro shot (useful for taking pics of watches)
-Able to handle hi iso without destroying the image.
-Manageable size around XZ-1 or X10 (the only cam i can think about)
-Able to adjust many parameter like DSLR but in smaller package
-Preferably not to have camera with interchangeable lens
The only camera i think that fit this are Oly XZ-1 or Fuji X10 or Conon s100. I not sure what the other camera that comparable to this 2.
Btw can you let tell me the best price in stores in KL?
Thanks for all the help guys and hope to hear some feedback from bro's here.

among my compacts, i have a fuji x10 and canon s90.
never liked the xz-1, tho it is cheaper than the x10 which goes for around RM1.8k.
but in short, go with the x10.
-
i second for X10, its almost like all in one, feel like selling my leica after acquire it ;D

I agree with the X10. Was comparing it with the X1 pro (upgrade? My X100) with the X10 and was trying hard to justify the reason for interchangeable lens. At the end maintain the X100 as I have the D300.

is X10 more than enough for general photography? My bro actually offer me his canon 400D body and I would have to supply my own lens. Not sure which one to choose :-X
-
x10 = dslr quality minus the size. But i still take a dslr any day.
-
Quality on DSLR will be much better especially you enlarge the image. But the size is an issue.
-
Bro.... my suggestion is to go for canon s100....
because it is so much smaller...
i am very satisfy with my ZX-1.. the only complain is the size... it is quite big and u cant put it inside your pocket...

Any idea of the going best price for X10 in KL?
Was quoted AUD 597 plus 10% gst included which can be reclaimed. That the camera unit only. Have not add on any other stuff. Not sure if its good price ???

you guys didnt hear of the x10 problems?
if you are looking for a compact, look at the sony dsc-rx100 just launched
-
And what are the x10 problems?
-
google "x10 white orbs"
-
So that was your deciding factor not to get this particular model?
Wait for firmware update i guess.
-
I have one and so far got no problems with it
-
i own a X100, i think its pretty awesome. it depends on what u wanna do with the camera. taking pic kids running around = DSLR, family vacation, watches post inside car (thing not moving fast enough) = Fuji x100, or x10 for that matter. (except x10 is smaller censor, thus image quality might not be as good). GL in your search.

I had a X100 and sold that, so definitely not buying a X10. I'm just sharing info.
No firmware can fix the white orbs problem. Only way to fix it is to change the sensor but will Fujifilm Malaysia do that?
-
yes fuji malaysia are offering sensor changes.
as for the orb issues, it only really affects in certain modes, most probably on full auto.
cos on mine the orbs are nowhere as serious as what others show.
i have showed some pics of mine to others, and they go tell me to shoot in a different mode then can see the orbs...i dont really see a point in that as i can get the pictures i want with the settings i want.
its like saying, since you cant fly, maybe try jumping off a building and see if you can...

Sony just unveiled its premium compact camera ... DSC RX100. A 20MP camera with 1" sensor, much bigger size than its equivalent competitors. Great specs!

Would you care to increase your budget a little more? I can recommend the olympus ep3 mini. my friend has one. i took and played with it, man im impressed by the features and picture quality.
It's also light and stylish. can consider it.
