Retrofit AR Coating on Saphire Crystal
« on: September 02, 2018, 09:26:53 PM »
Ladies & Gents.

I recently sent one of my watches in for servicing at an independent service center. The watch doesn't have a service center in Malaysia. One issue i have with this watch is the crystal is very reflective and it crossed my mind to get the both sides of the crystal coated with Anti Reflection Coating by an optician friend that I know.

Fully understand the coating outside can get scratched, but if that is the case, i can just remove the coating with polywatch if it bothers me too much, and the inner coating will still stay in good condition. So no worries there.

The concern i have is the dial is gray, and most if not all the AR coatings i have seen have bluish reflections.

Question.

I) Has anyone did this before? Retrofit AR
2) Will this ruin the appearance of the gray dial?

Please share your opinions on this.
