Title: German caliber watch get together @ MWF - 22.3.14 1pm-4pm
Post by: JOS2012 on March 22, 2014, 04:41:04 PM
A small group of enthusiasts of watches with German movements ranging from Lange, Glashutte Original, Nomos, Damasko, Archimede turned up for a get together at MWF this afternoon. Some other watches such GS, Zenith were also brought along by owners to share...

First off we filled up our stomachs at a Japanese restaurant several doors away

Fong must be a very hungry and angry man looking at his expression...

Next.. the gathering where everyone got to view, handle, take handphone pics of the various watches and exchange notes on their watches.
Fong is telling Jacky…you need a high powered LED torch to see all the details…. :HammerHead:

Fong: no no don't shine on the floor..shine on the dial…

Fong: haihhh let me show u the way laaaaaa... :Scolding:, Jacky is getting confused

no wonder laaa this torch is made in china.. lousy quality laaa….not compatible with German watches :Laughing_on_floor:

A potential ALS owner??...  :Praying:

See Wei must be dreaming of his next trinity watch….  a VC Patrimony perhaps since he already has an APRO

The traditional table top shot of all watches present

(http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m235/JoeyJLC/_AXE0981.jpg) (http://s105.photobucket.com/user/JoeyJLC/media/_AXE0981.jpg.html)
(http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m235/JoeyJLC/_AXE0980.jpg) (http://s105.photobucket.com/user/JoeyJLC/media/_AXE0980.jpg.html)

The individual shots… sorry for the blurry shots..I need a tripod nowadays but with many enthusiasts wanting to try the watches I had to hasten up taking pics of every piece.

The top dog here is obviously the fantabulous Lange 1…..pictures can never do it justice…the dial is simply a divine shade of grey and finishing is needless to say top drawer...
Apologies for the obvious bias of taking many shots of the Lange compared to the others..after all we don't get to handle a top dog Lange that often…

All in all although a few others didn't turn up, we still had a good variety of teutonic watches to play with and dream of, for our next acquisition…

Thanks to all who turned up to spend a fulfilling afternoon with a common interest at heart.…

Special thanks goes to Danny and Chris for opening up MWF although it was closed today.
Thanks to Chris also for the excellent expressos. Danny and Chris even washed up after us….

Beautiful Lange - no wonder so many fingerprints on its bezel. Was hoping to see some Tutima. Not sure why some Japanese gate crashed this German party. I must admit the gold markers and hands over snowflake dial is captivating. Thanks for the report and pics Jos - your storytelling is a good laugh.

Many thanks to Chris and Danny for being such wonderful host at the MWF shop, Joseph for being kind enough to provide the invitation, jacky and fong for their interesting views of watches in general.

Had a good relaxing afternoon to distress from work

As for next acquisition, still no idea what I want except hoping to have a watch with complications. Will wait for Basel 2014 as mentioned by the senior members and hopefully the discussion today on organizing a trip to one of the manufacture in swiss can be fulfilled in near future for us to better appreciate the respective brands.

Themed gatherings are organized every 6 months or so.
If a subsequent gtg is organized within a short period of an earlier one, it will be the same watches being presented all over so there is a high likelihood of those who attended the 1st gtg skipping the 2nd time around.

Over the next 6 months or so however, there is a high likelihood that a few members may acquire new pieces and together with those who missed the earlier gtg, it should be able to draw in enough members.

As Chris said, anyone can organize a gtg. Its good for some members to do so instead of having the notion that only older members or Moderators can initiate.

The MWF shop is always ready to host watch gtg of any kind.

Chris will be most happy to prepare free excellent expresso for the participants….for a limited time only....
