'Recycling' your straps
« on: February 29, 2012, 11:42:34 AM »
Hello guys,

Just wondering if anyone here actually 'recycles' their straps? Just some example, resizing the straps to fit watches of different lug sizes perhaps by trimming the sides by 1 mm at each end 24/22 to fit a 22mm lug OR inserting 'o rings' in the tubes of a 26mm to fit a 24/22 strap?

any experiences and pictures kindly share. thanks :)

I do really read some post about trimming 1mm to fit 22mm lug...
but so far didn't see anybody to add an "o" ring to fit 26mm lug...

Not really . I got the strap from the russian/german boutique shop in tropicana city , and they did the strap changing . I like them

Hard to find? Most common strap offerings are 16,18 and 20mm it's available everywhere in a myriad of colour, quality and cost.

Sadly some Rolex have odd lug width (Tudor included). Just google 19 or 21 mm straps.

i guess downsizing from 26mm to 24mm shouldnt be much of a problem provided the right tools are there in place. i've seen pictures on the net where people are using their 24mm straps on a 46/47mm diameter watch by putting o-rings between the lugs and straps.
