Lowballers stay away!!!!! Lowballer???
« on: September 21, 2018, 11:08:41 AM »
Ok, I keep seeing that lowballer thingy being mentioned at the for sale section and although I have heard the term lowballer before and I assume it means someone who negotiates too aggressively but what actually constitutes a lowballer? Is there a percentage guideline to go by? Is a person who asks for a 25% discount a lowballer?

Please share your thoughts on the term "lowballer" for the benefit of all.

Hi, for my understanding, lowballer means someone who purposely offer some ridiculous market price knowing the price offered is way below fair market price.

That again is depending on the market value (usually pre owned here in this forum).

For me, a gentleman deal is the upmost important on classified section. ie, we wont (lowball) ask for 50% discount when we walk into a car showroom right ? Its like wasting everyone's time. Thats y we will usually "politely ignore" lowballers.

Interesting topic ...

Whilst lowballers are often mentioned, there are also "highballers", for the lack of a better term ie. sellers who ask for used retail prices or higher ...

It's always subjected to different interpretation if either seller or buyer is unfamiliar with average market prices.  I always feel a fair price in a private sale should be somewhere in between the shop's buying & selling prices - which is easy to find this out.
