I am new register for this forum but definitely a long observer of this forum.Since then i decided myself to get my 1st Swiss watch...
For certain reason, brand like Rolex,Omega,Tag will increase the price every years with about 5%.
So,on my birthday i decided to pick a 45.5 mm Omega Planet Ocean.
It took ages for me to choose between Omega Speedmaster and Seamaster Planet Ocean.
I love the history behind the moon watch, but with the same price i only can get the manual mechanical watch and no co-axial movement.
SO,finally i pick up the 45.5 mm Omega Planet Ocean with a quick reasonable price in a well-know in KL and 3yrs warranty from Omega.
At a glance, the Omega Planet Ocean has that classic retro look and styling of the 1960’s Dive Watches, very readable and sophisticated.
The 45.5 mm case is the perfect size for me.The rounded Sapphire Crystal sits above the Bezel. It has a Anti- Reflective Coating on both the inside and the outside which again adds to visibility from all angles.
Upon closer inspection of the Planet Ocean, you will definitely love with the details inside. The point of attraction for me was the polished silver Broad Arrow Hands, they are very large and the time can be read at a quick glance
(http://i952.photobucket.com/albums/ae4/vinceteh82/Omega-Planet-Ocean-1.jpg)
The heart of the Planet Ocean is the Omega Caliber 2500 Co-Axial movement.Based on the ETA 2892-A2 movement,25 Jewels and a power reserve of 40 to 48 hours on a full wind the base movement alone has a stellar reputation for accuracy.
The bracelet is very thick, well designed. There is no sharp edges and the rounded links prevent any arm hair being pulled out. The End Links blend in seamlessly with the case of the watch making it visually flow. The clasp is very solid, with the Omega two push button release system and also Divers Extension.

Conclusion, this is the watch that you want to own for the long time. The price of the watch increasing every year,so what you wait for, just get one today...

Nice review. Went for the exact same model couple of months back and certainly loving it.

Yeah, nice watch. Omega price is increasing & now not able to get discount more than 10% anymore. My SM which I bought in 2007 still can get 20% then. Almost bought one myselfbut since I have already own an Omega, bought myself a Rolex instead :)
Good review and wear in good health !

I find it vry informative and serves best for those who r in the dilemma chossing btw these 2 sizes :)

Hi guys , wanna ask why no one talks about the James bond editions I.e casino royale PO. Are they worth it to pay the extra $$ compared to the ordinary ones ?

as you can see, the only different is the dial and i believed that the inner movement are the same. "please correct me if i'm wrong"
For me, i will not pay extra $$$ for so called limited edition of "5007" units! :Startled:
-
Well, I will get the 007 PO if the "He" release can produce laser beam :Laughing_on_floor:

Alvin, if orange all the way, that should include the orange strap...and if Omega put a little orange at the dial, I would have jumped in without thinking twice :Laughing_on_floor: :Laughing_on_floor:

I have got a rolex sub, the luminous only glow for max 20 minutes, would like to know this watch luminous can last how long?
I think that's quite common. If you want longer luminous, then you will have to consider brands like Ball and Luminox. My pam and sub only grow for 20-30 min max as well.
-
what's the big deal with lume?
get a backlit G-shock. end of story.
-
Great watch you have there! I am waiting for a pre-owned Liquid Metal with Orange Numeral :D Hopefully lucky enough to get one ^_^

initially i didn't quite like po due to the arrow hands but now it has been growing in me... since i saw pics of po lm (le). ;D i think 42mm po model would suit me since my wrist isn't that big. :P

Vincent u won't go wrong with this one. Co axial some more. Nice watch. Happy belated birthday! How young r u? Just kidding. Hope u had a blast and enjoy wearing the watch to the fullest. Cheers!

Saw one 8500 being sold by one of our MWF merchants here....very attractive pricing indeed...I paid considerably more in AD in MV

The key attraction of Planet Ocean to me was the Arrow Hands & its orange bezel when 1st saw it. I particularly like the 42mm Arrows (minute hand) vs the 45.5mm due to more balance length visually. The minute arrow hand of 45.5mm is just too long with short lume material.
As for the NEW 8500 caliber, the Arrow heads are more rounded compared to the 2500 caliber's more "pointed" arrow heads.

Love the 007, models danial Craig wears, very distinctive....
-
Great looking watch, too bad 45.5mm is too big for me..
-
just bought 42.2mm Skyfall earlier this month..had to choose between 45.5mm normal PO with 42.2mm Skyfall..i picked the skyfall as its a limited edition ;)
-
IMHO, I prefer this particular solid back PO rather that the one with the 'skyfall' view back. After all this is a tool watch....

I'm an Omega convert and the PO is a must. Here's one of mine.

Hi timenut, can share the price after disc uget, n which AD u get from?
-
The bracelet on the PO is one of the comfortable i've seen till now. I feel it is even more comfortable than the oyster bracelets. Oyster bracelets feel tinny while the PO bracelet feels solid and well finished. Congrats on your purchase. Cheers!

one day i gonna have that!
-
Anybody got the blue bezel & dial version of the PO? That is one hell of a cool looking watch. Not very common and carries on the Seamaster tradition very well.
-
Hi, anone can review on the rubber strap of PO? i am thinking to add one more PO to the collection but do not like the metal strap
-
I bought the original rubber strap with orange stitching for my PO and loving it! The rubber is durable and looks awesome with the deployant clasp. My PO is the 45.5 version and I personally feel that the rubber wears better than the bracelet as it is less heavy.
-
Hi sifus, newbie here. Infact also new to watch as about to buy my first premium watch.
Had my eye fix on Seamaster PO, and been putting it as my wall paper in laptop n phone. To check if I hangat tahi ayam, or is the design/look would really last.
Well, few months ago u had some craze over tag carrera, but that faded of like in 2 weeks.
Need to get some advice,
Which is the best place to buy? Giving most discount and trust worthy
One of the AD( not to name) [No disscusion on discount - Mod], but could only provide the warranty card but not receipt, is it worth the risk ( in case of counterfeit?)
Lastly, on the strap, understand that it is personal preference , but wouldn't be steel would be more lasting in term of trend than the rubber. Rubber does look nice but I guess it would be outdated? No offense to the bro here which own a rubber strap.
Many thanks in advance.
-
No offense taken. I actually bought my watch with the steel bracelet and bought the rubber strap later for a change in style. Sooo...I pretty much have the best of both worlds. I still interchange the straps according to my mood. The watch looks very different when on a bracelet and on rubber. 45.5mm with the bracelet is quite a heavy watch. I personally think that it wears better on rubber and I have mine on it maybe 70% of the time. For me, it should be ok if you have the original guarantee cards with the matching case number. If the AD is giving more discount than stipulated, they would normally not issue a receipt for the fear of getting caught with price throwing and ultimately, losing the dealership. If it is a reputable AD, the chances of a counterfeit is probably close to nil. However, do your homework and learn to tell the difference between a real and fake piece. It should be fairly obvious.
-
Thanks bro, for u favorable advice.
Think I should go for the metal bracelet first. May be get the rubber strap later.
Isn't it hard to swap? Anyway the damage is too heavy for me to get other strap for now
Ur point on the AD is noted.
I might proceed to make the kill today, n join the family
-
It is not very difficult to swap the straps but it could be a little tricky at first. The AD or Omega boutique will do it for you willingly if you do not want to get your hands "dirty". Also have a look at the Tudor Pelagos and the Rolex Sub (if you could stretch your budget) before making the final decision. Happy shopping!
-
great review waiting for more...... ::)
-
Hi Yikkie, thanks for ur advice.
Already pickup my watch today at 6pm. (They had also picked my pocket liao,, joking joking).
Hourglass at Garden does give good discount, with receipt.
So now official joint the PO club, and also the Gardens club too if it mean anything.
Din check out Tudor or Rolex. I would think Rolex is rather for mature uncle, and also read somewhere that Rolex is over rated in malaysia. At anyhow, I do like the omega brand for now.
Will probably not do much review as I am still a noob in this aspect.
-
Congratulations bro! Wear it in good health. Do post a wrist shot for us to admire.
-
I hav the 8500 45.5mm on full black rubber strap since day one. It's my daily beater n I must say it feels awesome!!! Very comfy n practical - can be washed regularly to keep it clean. I hav thought of getting the metal bracelet but hav been told its very bulky n heavy. Wat u all think?

Honestly speaking I would say Rolex or Tudor are the best brand for investments. As an example, Rolex Submariner is known to hold their value extremely well and some even appreciating once it become vintage.
