I have opened a new topic as the
previous one had some out-of-date information as this endeavor has continued to evolve from the time I started it, and my opening message had also some incorrect information (I'm unable to change it without Moderator rights). Thank you to those who have provided feedback thus far. They have been invaluable in enabling me to make improvements as this journey progresses.
And so on the day I completed publishing my 3rd Brand Series and 1 Special Edition series, I'd like to update my opening message to explain this effort to new readers and as a thank you to those who've encouraged me positively thus far.
Intro & Context:I'm a regular Malaysian who caught the 'horological bug' in 2017. As a result of thirst for knowledge and (no doubt) timepiece acquisitions, I started to read a lot about the history and evolution of some of the famous timepieces most of us here love and/or love to own.
I notice that a lot of fellow forum-ers (newbies in particular) started the way I did, i.e. not knowing much about watches, or perhaps don't have the patience to really know more beyond easy-to-ask buying recommendations. So here is my own personal effort to help share some of the horological knowledge which I hope some of you here find interesting.
Format:- The Infographic series I have created is called "The Ones to Watch".
- Each new series focuses on a Single Brand. Sometimes I randomly create a Special Edition series built around a specific Theme.
- The Infographic series is designed for Instagram, and as such all entries are in Square Format and have text which is readable without needing to zoom in.
- Each entry is made of a series of 3 images.
- The first shows up to 3 watches to represent the evolution of the original watch to the current day edition as of press time.
- The second covers a bit of trivia as to what makes this watch qualify as an icon or at least worth some honorable mention.
- The third covers my unfiltered views, sometimes troll-like, sometimes biased, but all my own. You are therefore welcome to disagree.
- As a general guideline, I will only feature current catalogue models, and will avoid limited editions, unless under very special circumstances (like a Special Series). Reason being, if you can't even get them anymore from brand boutiques and ADs, it won't be as much fun
- This is an effort out of pure hobby and fun. A prominent international watch magazine editor once said "if you think you know watches, write about it. You'd realise how much you don't know and enjoy the journey even more". I have used this quote to help fuel the interest even when I'm not self-poisoning on potential acquisitions.
- My Instagram is updated with a new entry every 2 days.
- If you like what you see, like and follow me on Instagram to keep updated in case I don't update in the forum.

Appreciate your support and do let me know if I have the facts wrong. Keep the inputs and feedback coming as it keeps me motivated to do this. Of course, be reminded that some opinions may offend specific watch owners. I encourage you to treat them as a point of view, to which you may disagree. The world would be a lot less fun without some difference in opinion.
Enjoy!
