What do you think about this brand?

DANIEL WELLINGTON

Seen them very often, and tons of them selling in local forums, quartz, minimalist design, colorful straps, what else? Love? hate?

one of the watch that should not ever appear in mwf or any watch forum.. ever :Laughing_on_floor:
nothing against the watch personally, just don't see the reason to spend that money on that watch when i can get a seiko prospex with that money. can't lie that it has really beautiful and elegant design, but its just not worth the money, and also too mainstream. many young people thinking it as a luxury and going crazy over it..

Not worth it in my opinion when there are other choices for the same amount of money around. Good as a gift for the uninitiated WIS though.

Gotta agree that this watch is not worth it at all. I rather settle down with a Swatch which cost maybe half the price of DW?

Cant say I hate it, but ya, young ppl like it alot. Thats why im puzzle, what so special about it. Minimalist bauhaus design and fancy strap, fashion accesories. But... Hahahaha

My colleague asked me about this brand and as a fellow wis, I have a hard time telling him my opinion on this watch, maybe I just need to be honest but tactful.

Definitely not worth the money paid for it and its a fashion watch.

And as Mikster said, a watch that should not appear in MWF.

Every watch deserves a place in the horology world. Be it a fashion watch, toy watch or grand complications Patek Philippe.

Personally i would not buy this brand, but i can't deny that they look quite good and funky.

Would like to see if Enkidu ever get inspired by this to dress his VC Patrimony with Nato strap or not  :Laughing_on_floor:

I agree with swleong,
I think every watch has a place somewhere in the horological map.
Be it a cheap watch or even a pasar malam watch.
We all gotta start somewhere.
But as with this DW brand goes, I do believe for the money... one can certaily find better options.

But how do I break it to my colleague? Haha

What I normally say is:

"Bro, the design is kinda cool. But my suggestion is that you get a watch from a true blue watch brand.
At least they are in the watch business proper... Seiko is a good start, g-shocks for ruff n tough.
If you're adamant about getting a similar designed watch, there are some brands out there with bauhaus design charging a little extra that's worth considering.
But buying watches is a personal thing, you go for what floats your boat, but since u asked for my opinion, that's it."

Ask yourself, do you want a fashion watch or a '"true" watch? If that sings to you, go ahead. For me, definitely "true" watch is the way to go.

I don't see the big problem honestly.
I mean being colleagues and definitely friends to a certain degree, your friend would like to hear honest opinions and not just "sure" "yes" and "go ahead"

Yesterday I would have no idea that this watch exist in the market.

But today I saw them in a boutique in Singapore and on my way back they advertise in the Tiger Tales magazine.

They are doing aggressive advertisement. I think the design suitable for the young.
