Depending on whom you asked.
Daytona is an icon watch, instantly recognized and is a dreamt watch for most (if not all) Rolex fans (It a want /  I also want one) with its rich history and also worn by most celebrities’. and also wanabes

This icon watch has been there for years even before we were born and has now attained a cult status

If you enjoy the Astro – Wah Lai Toi, now is showing the ‘Forensics Team’ on the 9.30pm slot, you will know what I mean. Our hero is flashing his Daytona all over the screen and the funny thing is  - Rolex is not the co-sponsor / advertiser.

With the current economic situation, it the best time to acquire one.

GMT -2C  is relative a new kid on the block – something first innovation (ceramic) for Rolexes. Many would like to own just like its older cousin (GMT / GMT2) as collections. It a like but not a wants (IMHO)
I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

hong kong tvb star 'lum mun loong' is a rolex fans....

yeap, daytona is icon.... u must buy now since the price come down and quite easy to get one now.... for collection maybe

but if u talking bout a watch for daily wear and travelling... i do think gmt 2 c stands out...
simply it look much better (personal) , with date and gmt hand....
but as david said, is a new design... with high production, price been stable down... used 1 come down to rm17k plus online...
plenty selling online...

i hardly find any1 selling their daytona online so far... its a keeper!

so i'll say buy 2 if $ is not a problem
daytona for collection
gmt for daily n travelling

hmm..thanks Chirs and Dave ;)

btw, if Daytona, new bracelet or old bracelet will you get? Just try to make a poll to see your preference...

the new bracelet is exactly same as GMT-2C and retail price is around 1.5K extra...

but personally i think the old style look sexy (it has shape)  ;D  but some told me the new one wear comfortable...

Like what other forumers say, "Buy what sings to you"  :Jumping:

Now is a good time to buy Daytona but OTH, IIc price might go up if the economy picks up again.

yes.... gmt ii c now got plenty of sales online now... at very good price....
if i found any in malaysia where i can do face deal... i wont think twice... i just dont like the feeling of waiting for postman and cant sleep well few days while waiting...

btw i still hardly see daytona selling online... my fren say no 1 sell bbecause daytona is a real collector piece... every1 buy mean want to keep it.... but i guess must be no 1 willing to sell at lost now...

When time is bad, they let go IIc. And if it get worse, they let go their Daytonas. Every watch is dispensable :)

Thank you all for the valuable comments/advices!

At last, old clap/buckle fits me better (shorter) and it has more shape on the buckle which I (personal preference) like it more

Overall, very comfortable and weight is just right!

Time for a double red Sea Dweller maybe?

Or time to move on to some independents.

No harm getting the same watch. After all there aren't that many popular models. As long as you don't wear the same watch on the same watch outing, it is ok. Just like the saying... "R u 2 working in the same company? Both of u are wearing the same _uniform_" :)
