Discount on Lexus? Only in your dream ! ;D

I've been asking before taking delivery of my car, cos Prius is offering 5-year free maintenance. But zero offer on CT200h. I heard they delivered 500 units within last 3 months. Hybrid is getting popular now.

Nearly cancel order and went for Golf TSI due to RM16k discount. But that discount drop to only 10k. So, finally stick to CT200h.

Hi

I have similar dilema. Was comparing CT200 vs Jetta vs Passat vs Mazda 6. Didnt even bother comparing with Golf TSI.

Ended up with CT200h..... due to its refinement and air of luxury. And also the entire buying experience.

Just think of it this way.
CT200h = Rolex
Jetta/Passat = Laco/Steinhart
Mazda = Seiko (or grand Seiko if you wish)

Imagine all same price. So its easy pick for me.

No offence to VW owner yah.

I too considered Golf TSI, Jetta & Passat before settling down with CT200h due to the technology (green) & luxury feel. But all these features cost money, so, the final factor is "tax free". Else, not easy too justify the saving of fuel. Am running at 5 liter/100 km (or less than 10 sens / km).

Klang Valley traffic jam every where, even at taman-taman now. Hybrid is the "best suited" cars for city life. The engine hardly starts, so will be less wear & tear. I strongly believe Hybrid cars are more reliable overall in city.

Can't accept the Golf TSI & Jetta come without leather seats & plain dashboard. CT200h wins hands down.

Hi Chrisyen

True true... G Seiko

Hi Alvin

Agree. My final reason is "I ain't want pay ridiculous taxes anymore" although everything is expensive. Just did my 10K service at Rm500! No free labour or anything. How about yours?

For those who consider GTi, do take a look at Mazda 3 MPS also. At Rm17+k, Japan CBU, 2.3l Turbo with 10 Bose Speaker audio, it really worth considering eventhough there are complains about torque steer.

Thanks

I have not done 10,000 km service yet but my friend did, RM500 too.

Having tax free car in Malaysia is like in a dream, when all cars are taxed minimum 30-40% including Proton made. Worse on imported brands : AP, Import Duty, Excise Duty, Sales Tax.  :Blue:

Just came back from Bangkok last month and found out that their Japanese cars are cheaper than Malaysia by 20 to 40%.

I read it too but found the choice of "battle field" was not quite fair. Having CT200h vs Passat competing on PLUS highway will not favour any hybrid cars as they are designed for city traffic ie. stop-go scenario.

how about the new Honda CR-Z hybrid ??  ;D
i think is a fair comparison to the Lexus, but it is only a 2+2 seater which means rear seats are only for show  :Blue:
at 115k i think is a bargain to the not-so-exciting Prius + it's a manual !  ;)

I like both Never driven the Lexus but my sis inlaw has one and gotten a ride a couple of times.. very comfy and if your taking a long drive its nice to know that it wont cost much... golfs are just plain fun to drive but one needs snow to really get the best out of them

Lexus Cars are made to perfection , Lexus sales  are at the top range in the states , If you own one,  comparing it with a German Car there is no doubt german technology is better ,  But then if you drive a lexus its all about the branding and also the taste you have. I personally love the lexus for comfort and style . if i want speed and performance  i will just take the BM or the Audi out for a spin comparing german and a japanese car.

Just my 2 cents

Congrats on your choice.

For me, if I were to choose performance, I will go for the Passat.
Even though it may be 1.8cc as compared with CT200 which is 2.0cc, but feel more powerful as it's engine is turbo-powered.
