Anyone here a Micro 4/3 user?

I've move to Olympus sometime ago and now getting into video with Lumix system.

Here's a 4k video test

Bought a m4/3 about two years back, with the idea of using it as a point and shoot cam for times when I do not want to lug my dslr around. Most of my photos are automotive related, so my "subjects" are mostly just cars. My choice of cam, given my budget at the time, was a Lumix GX1 and when mounted on the 14-42 kit lens, I find that it is just a bit too bulky to carry it around, especially when I'm trying not to stuff everything in my carryall bag. Although it struggles a little bit under low light conditions, it works pretty well in most cases when I've used it.

Earlier this year, I purchased a pancake 14/2.5 -- a smaller, flatter lens, but I still find the camera to be a bit too bulky overall. To be fair, I've not checked out any recent models so I cannot comment if the new breed of m4/3s are slimmer, or not. I love the 14/2.5 -- bought used, so it was cheap and it does produce some pretty good results in a variety of lighting conditions. Downside? The range takes some getting used to.

For most of my 'proper' work, I do still tend to stick with a dslr as it just produces better results. I've been contemplating getting another lens for my GX1... perhaps a sigma 60/2.8 but do not know yet if I can live with the range or with the bulk. If I could just have one lens, I think a 25/1.4 would be perfect, but even looking at used prices, I cannot yet justify the need to have that lens which I may use every once in awhile.

nice car photos there, r3kahsttub.

I've recently purchased another 25mm but f1.7 which is the poor man version of the f1.4. Seems to serve me well and the results are rather satisfying...

Haha, my 14/2.5 is basically a poor man version of your 25/1.7 (which in turn, I was considering buying). That, or completely jump ship to a mirrorless EOS M platform, which has an impressive sensor and ability to use the EFS lenses. But, as I had trouble in the past trying to sell my GX1, I think I won't even attempt it now. The bokeh on your lens looks very creamy and nice, btw.

Instead, I've gone ahead to purchase an EF adapter for my m43; since I have a 40/2.8, I'm planning to plonk it onto my GX1 and if all works well, I should be able to use it. Downside? I lose autofocus. Yes, that is a pain in the arse, but an AF able adapter from Metabones costs as much as a camera itself!

Here's another quick shot from my GX1:

Bro, when I meant poor man's nifty fifty, I really meant poor, USD 99.00 only at the time I'm typing this...

Wow! That is really cheap! I had the impression the lens was almost 60% dearer that what you shared; at least it was I think earlier this year. I eventually bought a used 14/2.5 on LYN and even that cost me RM280! I'm very tempted to get the 25/1.7 now, but unless I get rid of my 14/2.5, cannot justify it still  :-[

Haha, don't sell it man, it was a good deal. Get the other lens to compliment it and create your own trinity of lenses, a 25mm and perhaps another 42.5 or 45mm :)

EM-1MKII user here and I recently sold my 14mm f2.5 and got the PanaLeica 15mm f1.7. No regrets at all. Quite a nice lens this one with pleasing rendering and smooth bokeh (can't expect much bokeh from a 15mm). Highly recommended.

I have  GH1 with a EF-M4/3 speed booster. Then a Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 with a EF adapter. The GH1 might be old but it definitely does wonders with videos!
