Rolex Service Centre new rule!
« on: August 04, 2018, 12:02:35 PM »
RSC no longer charge authentication fee but takes the watch for normal service:
1. If the watch is fake, they will forfeit your watch right away.
2. If it is a stolen watch (as watch owner reported), you will be detained by the guard till the police arrive and take you for further investigation.

It already happened at RSC, Singapore.

Not sure if this is true as I have not heard of anything like that in RSC Singapore. Where did you hear about this?

You're welcome bro.

Actually me too, I have many old and preowned Rolex without paper but I think I can take the risk and I believe my usual preowned Rolex seller is doing good due diligence when sourcing those preowned pieces.

You still can send your watch for repairs eventhough you dont have the warranty card. As long that your watch is legit and it is after the warranty period, Rolex will service the watch.

And when your watch is serviced, Rolex will provide a Rolex Service Paper that will provide additional 2 year warranty from the date of the service.

So if you have an old Rolex watch and worry that you cant sell it, just send it to be serviced. The fact that Rolex serviced it shows that the watch is legit and the service paper will provide 2 years warranty.

RSC used to accept 'partial service' as a mean to authenticate the Rolex watch. the receipt will bears the serial number and the fact that they don confiscate the watch shows the authenticity of the said watch. does it mean that RSC don accept this "partial service" anymore?

and i heard frm a grey dealer that Rolex service worldwide don't accept report for stolen watches anymore. meaning that they dont keep a database of stolen Rolex watches, unlike the AP as mentioned in the Sin Chew report above. dunno whether its true but if it does,  then servicing Rolex without papers will be safer for the new owners.

They actually help you to check the watch. If forfeit means fake, otherwise it's real. :Laughing_on_floor:

Then nobody will purchase a Rolex that comes without a box and certificate. What if the original owner lost his paper? Can he ask Rolex to re-issue a new one?

No, Rolex will not re-issue a new certificate or give you a box if you have lost it.  This happened to me.  I called RSC Malaysia about getting a certificate for my Rolex watch and they refused to do so.  I then, wrote to Rolex Switzerland, to try to get them to issue me a copy or duplicate certificate, and they decline to do it.  I don't think they have a database record of Rolex owners (maybe nowadays, but definitely not for past years quite long ago).

Rolex has the database when the watch first sold by the Rolex outlet. My 70s vintage Cellini can be traced back it was sold by which Rolex outlet.

Good to know from you that they have a database record on their items sold in the 70s... but when I spoke with their rep over the phone, he avoided talking about a database of the ownership of the watch purchased.  I provided them with the serial number of my Rolex watch in my letter to them, but they did not confirm who the purchaser was - perhaps their database is the retail outlet, not the purchaser.
