i still got a nicely decorated used 6498-1.... it is a chronometre grade movement....
it has a screwed glycydur bal, anochron hair spring.... cote de geneva on all bridges, perlage under the balance...
better grade jewels... blued screw.... only flaw is the swan neck been taken away and mounting screw holes.

so i decided to make a 2533....
44mm polished cushion case with wire lugs
screw in crown lock
diamond like crown
see through case back
2533 like sandwich dial with c3 luminous
blue hand with c3 luminous
tall plexi glass...

i still need to find the winding stem...
maybe a tall cannon pinion and hour wheel....
2 movement mounting screws...
maybe a to try a fake pam movement swan neck can fit into this movement....

and my handmade strap....

Yenfoolun,
I really admire your resourcefulness. I don't think I know of anyone else who has a spare nicely decorated 6498-1 lying around the house!  :) Not to mention the 44mm Radiomir case and sandwich dial. Where did you source for these stuff?
Do keep us posted on the progress of your latest project and good luck in finding the missing pieces to the puzzle.

i'm getting the 44mm well polished case from davidsen... the master in faking panerai!
his case is better then those at petaling street...
and i do not want any laser engrave wording for this project watch...

so no logo on case, dial n crown..... buckle....

spoke to my friend, he can find me the winding stem...
now need to order china made crone pam movement with swan neck...
hope the swan neck can fit into my movement!

taller cannon pinion and hour wheel...

not a ebauche 6498

pending winding stem..... and still hoping to get a swan neck that can fit.....
not so please with the hands....but this the only hands i can find now....
dial is not perfect either... but lucky i'm not purist....
the tall plexiglass is special.... haha....

and i'm making strap for it.... half way done...
i would like to keep the side without cream.... the sandwich look is lovely....

no time to stitch yet... hope it turn out great.... still waiting for a buckle...

Yenfoolun,
Cool pics. Now we can learn from you how to put a custom watch together.
By the way I think you posted the picture of the watch case twice. Dial pic is missing.
Thanks for sharing and keep us posted on the progress.

Yenfoolun,
Your network of contacts never cease to amaze me. You know people in Richemont and Swatch Groups.
Do you know anybody in Rolex Service Centre who can get me a black sub bezel insert. I wanna switch out the green one in my LV sub.  ;D

Very impressive.

Is that the 6497 Asian movement? (non-swan neck)

Please tell us more on its case.. local outsource or original marina case...40mm or 44mm

Recently I have seen some 'swan neck' movement at the Lelong Malaysia. They even selling the california dial type. Are they any good?

I always tempted to buy this over at the Time Zones, The following are the descriptions;-

" This is very close to the original as you can see from the pic. The back has display case so you can see the swiss Unitas 6497.

Display back. Signed movement and crown. It's on a brand new brown BOB strap.

Selling for $290 shipped.
C-30FS: 47mm Radiomir style California Dial Custom Homage - Swiss Unitas mvmt $290

Your advise please.

Congratulations on the completion of your project watch. Looks great.
By the way how did you test the water resistance to 100m?

this is a genuine swiss eta 6498-1, not a normal1 but modified by soprod....
1. cote de geneva on bridges
2. perlage below balance
3. blued screw
4. screws glucydur balance
5. anachron hair spring
it has a flame blued swan neck modified by dornbluth.... but is rusted...

this is a 44mm 316L st steel cushion case with screw in crown and double o ring for better water resistant!

those lelong in malaysia is china crone panerai 6497... the finishing is very poor... the cote de geneva is lousy...
the gear is not polish... it will not last long....

beware of all this deal...
1. ebauche swiss movement 6497 / 6498 cost u around usd130... those nickel plated cost u another usd20... if cote de geneva finish + blued screw cost u usd 200 ++...

if total usd 290 shipped... u wont get a finished movement... or seller cheat!

thats how they control.... which is good.... otherwise....

i'll pm u if arrangement can be made!

Would you mind sharing with us your approximate cost to complete this 6498 project?
If the cost is reasonable, any chance of building another one in the near future? (beside the project watch currently on)

I always wanted one with the cushion case type, (reasonable cost and with all the authentic / genuine components) but could not bring myself to settle for one from the RXW range (high cost?) or from the petaling street (non-genuine)

Thanks

Yenfoolun,
Thanks for taking the effort to make enquiries. RSC here is really stingy when it comes to spare parts.
I guess it's necessary due to the number of FOLEX around.
